Britney Spears posts nude selfies as the world waits to see what she will do with her career next

Britney Spears has shared a nude mirror selfie, as the world speculates on what the pop star will do next with her career.

Britney Spears speaks out about conservatorship ending

Being a free woman has not stopped Britney Spears from baring all — literally — for her fans as she moves on with her new after after her father’s conservatorship came to an end.

Spears has posted a racy full-frontal naked mirror selfie with her Instagram followers.

Wearing only knee-high white socks and choker, she told her 38 million followers: “Free woman energy has never felt better”.

It’s not the first time she’s gotten nearly nude for the camera on social media, but it’s clear Spears isn’t in a rush to return to the studio and definitely not to the stage.

The 40-year-old pop culture phenomenon will kick off 2022 as a woman in control of her career and life choices after 13 years under a conservatorship overseen by her estranged father Jamie Spears.

After years of campaigning by the #FreeBritney fan-led movement and the swift action by her new lawyer, former federal prosecutor Matthew Rosengart, that controversial legal arrangement was terminated in November.

“What’s next for Britney is up to one person — and this is the first time we can say this in a decade. It’s up to Britney,” Rosengart said.

A significant step in the unravelling of the “abusive conservatorship”, as both Spears and Rosengart have referred to it, came in early December when the LA judge overseeing the complicated case ruled Spears could now execute documents herself in relation to her $A84 million estate.

This may have been a procedural matter in her long-running and ongoing legal battle for emancipation, but as Rosengart said following the hearing, being able to legally sign contracts meant the “independent woman” finally has “the power to do whatever she wants to do.”

Spears appears to have ruled out a return to touring – or the concert stage – in the immediate future.

Her harrowing 24-minute statement to the probate court against the conservatorship during a hearing in June detailed how the world tours and four-year Las Vegas residency made money for everyone around her – including her family – but she was legally constrained from spending any of her fortune.

“They need to be reminded they actually work for me,” she told the court.

She also didn’t mince words about how she feels about the demands of touring in mid December in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The Piece Of Me singer has been off the road for three years after cancelling her return to Las Vegas in early 2019 for the Domination residency. She then cited it was because of her father’s health but in reality, she didn’t feel mentally fit enough to undertake the gruelling show schedule.

“I know I’m not playing in huge arenas with my loud band anymore but I will be honest and say life on the road is hard !!!” she wrote in the recent lengthy post.

“My first three years in the biz and on the road were great but I’ll be completely honest and say that after those three tours and the pace I was going … I don’t think I ever want to do it again !!! I hated it !!!”

Touring may be the most lucrative income stream for a pop performer but a new Britney Spears record would undoubtedly be one of the music events of 2022. Or any year.

Her most recent record, 2016’s Glory – reissued with extra tracks in 2020 – was widely critically acclaimed.

It may have not matched the sales volume of her triumphant early career trilogy … Baby One More Time (1999), Oops! … I Did It Again (2000) and Britney (2001) which sold a remarkable 55 million copies worldwide.

But propelled by the staunch support of her legion of fans and her prime position in noughties-themed playlists, Spears is a stream queen.

The Work Bitch superstar has more than three billion streams on Spotify for her 10 most popular tracks, with Toxic alone generating more than 677 million plays.

She remains signed to major label RCA, whose executives have remained silent during her conservatorship fight and since she won her petition to have it terminated.

Before she won her freedom, Spears told fans she wouldn’t return to work until her father was out of the picture and no longer controlling her life. She is also currently estranged from her mother Lynne and sister Jamie Lynn.

The pop powerhouse has yet to secure a new talent manager since her long-time handler Larry Rudolph resigned in July after her court statement, claiming “I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire.”

Rumours began circulating in November she has had discussions with Lady Gaga’s manager Bobby Campbell.

Gaga has been among the most vocal high-powered entertainers cheering Spears’ campaign for freedom.

“The way that she was treated in this business was really wrong, and the way that women are treated in the music industry is something that I wish would change,” Gaga said during a House Of Gucci red carpet interview.

“I think she will forever be an inspiration to women.”

Campbell also has a much closer-to-home link to Spears; he is best friends with her partner of five years and now fiance Sam Asghari.

“I’ve been obsessed with this woman since I was a teen. She taught me everything I know about pop culture. She brought me one of my best friends in this world @samasghari And now she is free. I love you @britneyspears. Congratulations,” Campbell posted after the court decision.

While Spears could pick any hit maker in the world to work with on new material, the pop star’s big comeback may not be of the musical kind.

After a clutch of documentaries about the singer this year – which Spears wasn’t entirely happy about despite them assisting to drive the momentum behind the #FreeBritney campaign – she may consider her own film or television series to tell her story.

She cryptically posted on November 24, “I just shot a movie titled ‘The Idol’ … it’s guaranteed to have hits and a lot of bright pics to put in my beautiful family’s faces !!!!!”

There was some speculation she may have a role in The Idol series being developed by pop superstar The Weeknd for HBO, but it only received the green light the day before her post and has not started filming.

As for the big tell-all she joked on Instagram about doing with celebrity chat queen Oprah Winfrey, Spears may have changed her mind about letting someone else dictate her narrative.

In her recently deleted Insta post, she also called out the infamous 2003 interview she claims she was forced to do with Diane Sawyer after she split with Justin Timberlake, during which the tearful star was shamed for what she wore and accused of infidelity.

Spears has shared with fans how freedom means she can withdraw cash from ATM, go shopping and drive her car.

It appears living a normal life – one she was deprived of for 13 years – is her priority for now.

She was engaged to Asghari in September after revealing in her court statement in June she didn’t have the freedom to get married, and had been unable to have another baby as her conservatorship minders wouldn’t allow her to have an IUD removed.

After they returned from celebrating her 40th birthday in Mexico, Asghari told a paparazzi who asked what he and Spears planned for Christmas they would be “baby making.”

Whatever Spears does next, her fans will be hoping it evokes the mantra of her hit Stronger.

“You might think that I won’t make it on my own, But now I’m Stronger than yesterday,

Now it’s nothing but my way.”
