And the Royal Mint said Let There Be Rock, with AC/DC on the A side, Queen Elizabeth II on the B side.

A limited edition set of coins to mark the 45th anniversary of the legendary Australian rock band’s Let There Be Rock album will be one of the final sets to feature Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy.

Only 30,000 coins, shaped as mini vinyl records in album sleeves and housed in a roadie case, will be produced for the collection.

Let There Be Rock was released in March 1977 and featured some of the band’s most enduring fan favourites including the title track, Whole Lotta Rosie and Dog Eat Dog.

It also featured some perhaps less well-known tracks reflecting the quintessential larrikinism of the unapologetic rock’n’roll outlaws such as Crabsody in Blues and Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be.

The album was a defiant middle-finger response from the band, who were on the verge of breaking up before they recorded it after their American record label had rejected their previous record Dirty Deeds Done Cheap and were threatening to drop the band from their roster.

Their fourth album, Let There Be Rock was hailed as a blistering set of “sweaty, dirty, nasty rock” which established their credentials as an “album” band in the same company as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.

The six 20 cent coins are inspired by a raft of AC/DC albums celebrating upcoming anniversaries.

In addition to Let There Be Rock turning 45 this year, Powerage celebrates that anniversary in 2023.

The other significant milestones for AC/DC records next year are the 40th anniversary of Flick of The Switch (1983), the 35th anniversary of Blow Up Your Video (1988) and 15th anniversary of Black Ice (2008) all in 2023.

The collection, which will set AC/DC – and Queen Elizabeth fans – back $110 – are available from the Royal Mint shop and join other collectibles offered by the band’s official store such as Christmas ornaments and blow-up dolls.
