NIA Vardalos has shared a photo of hunky co-star John Corbett shirtless as the film the sequel to their hit movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Vardalos wrote the original 2002 movie about Toula Portokalos, who falls in love with Ian Miller (Corbett).
The clash of cultures between Toula’s large Greek family and Ian hit a comedy sweet spot.
The movie was made for just $US5 million but ended up grossing, $US240 million in North America.
It made a further $US120 million around the world to make it the biggest earning romantic comedy of all time.
It also earned Vardalos an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
So it was only a matter of time before a sequel was made.
“Now that I’m experiencing motherhood, I’m ready to write the next chapter of my family story,” Vardalos said in a statement when the movie was announced. Of course, a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true.”
She flaunted Corbett’s muscular body in an Instagram photo of the pair on set.
“Is someone trying to get baptised again in #MyBigFatGreekWedding2?” Vardalos captioned the picture.
John Stamos appears in the sequal, as does Rita Wilson, who produced the original movie.
