John Cena says there’s nothing sexy about filming sex scenes.

The actor opened up about the “embarrassing” process during an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast.

“Is it hard doing a sex scene?” host Shannon Sharpe asked.

“Oh my god, it’s the worst!” Cena replied.

The wrestler turned film star explained sex scenes are often filmed in front of a large number of people, because “there are so many people you need to make a movie”.

“There is nothing intimate about it, nothing,” Cena said. “It’s real embarrassing.”

He also spoke about his infamous sex scene with Amy Schumer in the 2015 film, Trainwreck, saying it’s even harder to shoot a comedic sex scene.

“They literally (said), ‘try to have the most awkward sex you possibly can,’” Cena recalled.

“And with an audience watching that, it’s different. I don’t want to say it sucks, it’s just different.”

Cena is no stranger to getting his gear off on camera.

In addition to several on-camera sex scenes, he also appeared naked on stage during this year’s Oscars.

“Which was harder, the sex scene in Trainwreck or the ... scene at the Oscars?” Shannon Sharpe asked.

“The Oscars,” Cena replied.

“I have the most decorated performers, producers, directors, in one room and I’m gonna go out there with my balls in the wind with an index card covering my stuff and be like, ‘hey guys, is this funny?’”

Cena explained how the stunt came to be.

“Jimmy Kimmel called me personally and he’s like, ‘I need you to come to the Oscars,’” he said.

“I’m like, ‘Jimmy, I’m in between stuff. I need some time to recharge.’

“He’s like, ‘just let me send you the bit,’ and he sent it on paper and I called him back and went, ‘when do you need me there?’”

Cena added that the ‘bit’ wasn’t as bad as he first thought.

“I honestly thought I would be more naked,” he said.

“I expected full d**k and nuts, but it’s Disney so I had to put tape on my butt crack … that was even more embarrassing, going out there with a taped butthole? That was tough!”

Cena made it clear he has no regrets about the revealing stunt.

“I’m so fortunate that Jimmy Kimmel thought of me,” he said.

“The money wasn’t good … but I knew that I wanted to do it.”
