Presley was taken to Southern California’s West Hills hospital on Thursday after emergency services responded to a call that she had been found unresponsive in her bedroom.

Her ex-husband, Danny Keough – with whom she lives – had performed CPR until paramedics arrived at her Calabasas home. Medical professionals declared at the time that Presley had gone into “full arrest,” according to TMZ.

The publication reported that Presley was given adrenaline at the scene to help her regain a pulse. She was then transported to hospital, where she was placed on a life support machine.

Page Six reported that Presley “coded multiple times” in the hospital, with her heart stopping again repeatedly.

Her condition was “critical” before she died, the outlet added.

An official cause of death will be determined at a later time.

Shortly after the news of Lisa Marie’s cardiac arrest broke, her mother, Priscilla Presley, 77, released a statement to People magazine asking for privacy.

“My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world and ask for privacy at this time,” she added.

Priscilla was later seen arriving to hospital.

Presley unsteady at the Golden Globes

Two days earlier, Lisa Marie and Priscilla had attended the Golden Globes in Los Angeles together in support of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic, starring Golden Globe-winner Austin Butler as the king of rock’n’roll.

In a clip from the red carpet, Presley appeared unsteady on her feet while being interviewed.

The footage sees Presley turning to her friend Jerry Schilling, 80, and saying, “I’m gonna grab your arm,” as she was asked questions ahead of the event by Extra host Billy Bush.

She appeared to talk slowly and slurred her words as she responded to questions about Butler’s portrayal of her father.

The singer said she adores Butler and was “mind-blown” by his performance, for which he won Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama at the event.

“I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it,” she recalled.

“I had to take, like, five days to process it because it was so incredible and so spot on and just so authentic.”

Inside Lisa Marie’s tragic life

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Presley is the only child of Priscilla and Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 at the age of 42 of a heart attack likely brought on by a prescription pill addiction.

Like her father, Presley was also a musician. Throughout her career, Presley released three albums: To Whom It May Concern (2003), Now What (2005) and Storm & Grace (2012).

Presley inherited her father’s $US100m estate at the age of 25, but in 2018, she claimed her former business manager, Barry Siegel, had squandered her entire share, whittling it down to just $US14,000.

Her mother Priscilla was reportedly forced to sell her Los Angeles mansion in 2019 to help her daughter with her mounting debts.

The mother-of-four was married four times – to musician Danny Keough, singer Michael Jackson, actor Nicolas Cage and music producer Michael Lockwood.

She leaves behind 33-year-old daughter Riley Keough and 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper, who she shared with Lockwood.

In 2020, her only son with Danny Keough, Benjamin Keough, died by suicide.

In a statement released at the time, Lisa Marie said she was “beyond devastated”.

“She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley,” the statement read. “She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
