Jenny Morrison has spoken about the time she was dumped by her future husband

Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s wife Jenny has revealed she was once dumped by her future husband for another girl when they were teens.

Jenny Morrison revealed the Prime Minister dumped her briefly for another girl when the pair started dating as teenagers.

Scott Morrison and his wife Jenny have been together since they were teens but the mother of two explained the separation to 60 Minutes on Sunday night.

“He broke up with me because he was keen on another girl,” she said.

However, they were not apart for long with the PM saying he fixed it “pretty quick”.

“Oh, I was an idiot. It was a stupid decision,” he said.

The pair were childhood sweethearts who first met at Luna Park before running into each other again at a Christian youth camp and finally starting to date aged 16.

Mrs Morrison has been thrust into the spotlight ahead of the Federal Election with many branding her as the PM’s “secret weapon”.

She featured prominently in a largely panned 60 Minutes interview.

She has been slammed for comments about former Australian of the year and sexual abuse survivor Grace Tame.

Mrs Morrison wished Ms Tame had shown “manners and respect” and was “disappointed” when she met her on Australia Day. Ms Tame received both criticism and support when she didn’t smile for photos with the Prime Minister.

“I just found it a little bit disappointing, because we were welcoming her in our home,” she said. “I just wish the focus had been on all the incredible people coming in.

“I respect people that want to change things, stand up for their beliefs, and are strong, but I still think there are manners and respect.”

Former Liberal MP Julia Banks was one of many to hit back at the PM’s wife.

“I know Grace Tame and Brittany Higgins. I know and have worked with Scott. I know a lot of people who work[ed ]with him,” she said.

“To Jenny (who I’ve met briefly) – I say ‘with manners & being polite’.

“Everyone I know is disappointed in him.”
