Jacqui Feeney has been announced as chief executive officer of Screen Queensland, the third person to taken on the role in less than a year.
Ms Feeney, who will start on July 26, has 25 years’ of global media and entertainment experience.
Her career highlights include executive leadership roles at Fox Networks Group and National Geographic, and key roles within the independent sector.
The announcement comes in the wake of Courtney Gibson’s abrupt resignation in April after six months in the role. She took over the role from Kylie Munnich.
Following Ms Gibson’s resignation, the reins were then briefly held by Dr Belinda Burns, who has since resumed her role as Chief Creative Office.
Screen Queensland Chair Roslyn Atkinson welcomed Ms Feeney and expressed confidence in her capabilities, citing extensive industry knowledge, stakeholder management skills and business development expertise as vital assets for the organisation’s future trajectory.
“Ms Feeney is extremely well placed to lead the agency with her vast capabilities across stakeholder relations with government bodies, international studios and broadcasters, as well as contract negotiations and business and product development,” Ms Atkinson said.

“The Board was unanimous in our decision to appoint Ms Feeney as Screen Queensland’s chief executive officer.
“She brings a wealth of industry knowledge and relationships as an accomplished screen executive who has worked with major institutions such as the BBC and ABC, as well as Screen NSW and Foxtel.”
In addition to her corporate roles, Feeney has also held board positions with the Sydney Film Festival, Nickelodeon, Documentary Australia, and supported a range of start-up companies.
The appointment comes as Screen Queensland gears up to implement an ambitious 2023-25 Strategic Plan.
The plan focuses on expanding the local screen industry and leveraging global interest in Queensland as a production destination of choice.
Ms Feeney added that she was stepping into her role with eagerness, expressing her anticipation of connecting with Queensland‘s screen practitioners and games developers.
Committed to enhancing local narratives and the unique voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, she‘s intent on fostering collaboration across the industry.
“It‘s been my privilege to work in a sector that’s all about people, ideas and stories, and now to be in a pivotal role to help nurture Queensland’s distinct and diverse voices, especially those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,” she said.
“I’m committed to working collaboratively with the whole industry, our partners and especially the Screen Queensland team and Board, to capitalise on our state’s strengths as a natural home for the screen sector.
“We have the opportunity to enhance the contribution of Queensland crews and creatives in our local screen storytelling while being the go-to location for Australian and international productions.”
