Hugh Jackman has shown off his incredible physique in an Instagram post, declaring he is in the best shape – mentally and physically – of his life.
The Aussie star recorded an audio post for his 34 million Instagram followers so he could speak about how “beyond grateful” he was to the “team” who helped him achieve it.
Jackman said he was feeling better than he had “for years” thanks to a health and fitness regimen that has him in the best shape of his life at the age of 55.
Jackman said he had a “lot of people talk to me or ask me questions about how I got into shape, what I did, what I ate, how I trained, how hard is it at your age and all of these things”.
“I just wanted to take a second to say, yeah, I had to turn up and I had to do those deadlifts and I had to eat those meals, but I had an incredible team that helped me,” he said.
“When I say team, I’m going to mention eight people because there’s not a hope in hell I would’ve got there without them.”
Jackman singled out his most effusive praise for personal trainer Beth Lewis who the star said had been his fitness adviser for five years and was “the quarterback supporting me on these journeys that I’m on”.
“She trained me for doing an arena show, for doing a Broadway musical and for doing [Deadpool & Wolverine],” Jackman said.
“I am beyond grateful to Beth and I am in better shape now than ever. My knees, my shoulders, which have bothered me for years – gone. She has helped me get through this and get the results I needed, feeling fantastic.”
Jackman gave credit to Lewis for stopping him from “overworking” and for being the
“She never makes me overwork. She helped me realise I had been over working in the past, but she was always was present, thoughtful, kind and then when it was time to push me, she could push me.”
Jackman also went on to thank his nutritionist and his make up artist on Deadpool & Wolverine who had the job of “glistening” the Aussie up.
“There was Whitney my make up artist who was called in to yep, put on some kind of oil to make my skin glisten,” Jackman said.
“You ought to hear [director’ Shawn Levy yell out “fresh lube on Hugh and everyone would cringe – no, not cringe, laugh.”
Jackman is riding high with Deadpool & Wolverine riding high at the box office, taking in a staggering $1.8 billion so far.
Jackman reprised his role as the iconic Marvel Comics superhero Wolverine opposite Ryan Reynolds’ character Deadpool to save the multiverse. The supporting cast included Channing Tatum, Emma Corrin, Jennifer Garner, Matthew Macfadyen and more.
Meanwhile, Jackman made an appearance at the US Open earlier this week looking dashing in a navy suit and matching blue laceless sneakers.
The Aussie superstar looked on form with brushed back hair, a light beard, and glasses as he watched Poland’s Iga Swiatek and Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenova battle at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre.
Jackman posted photos to his Instagram stories showing him with acquaintance Andrew Bimson, who he tagged. He also tagged Amanda Wight, whose Instagram account is set to private. Wight works for the United States Tennis Association as a client accounts manager, according to her LinkedIn profile.
The Wolverine actor appeared to be having a great time with Bimson, who sat with him in the stands watching the game.
The Deadpool & Wolverine star also reported video from Bimson’s account showing them both in the stands and watching “the greatest show.”
Jackman’s career high comes as he continues to be seen out and about as a single man after splitting from wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 68, in September last year after almost 30 years of marriage.
Announcing their divorce in their sole joint statement the former couple noted, “Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,”
Jackman and Furness share two children, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19.
