Hollywood actor Glen Powell has been spotted on-set of his latest TV series, sporting a completely different look than usual.
The Top Gun: Maverick star, 35, was photographed filming the new Hulu production Chad Powers in Atlanta, Georgia, flaunting a prosthetic nose and shaggy blonde hair.
Reacting to the photos, fans took to social media in disbelief over Powell’s transformation, with one noting, “If Tom Cruise and Owen Wilson had a kid it would look like this.”
Powell, who has become one of the industry’s most in-demand actors since his featuring in the billion-dollar Top Gun sequel in 2022, stars as lead Russ Holliday in the show, who disguises himself as the alter-ego Chad Powers in a bid to revive his struggling football career.
Powell also serves as an executive producer, as well as a co-creator and co-writer of the pilot episode, alongside Michael Waldron.
Chad Powers is based on the fictional character of the same name who first appeared in the 2021 EPSN+ docuseries Eli’s Places, which wascreated by former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
An official synopsis for the series states, “When bad behaviour nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s [Powell] college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.”
Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez and Quentin Plair make up the cast.
It comes after Powell revealed he’d relocated from Los Angeles to his home state of Texas to be closer to his family.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in May, the Twisters star said he’d reached a point in the industry where he was able to distance himself from tinsel town while still maintaining his career.
Further, he detailed his plans to finish his college degree at the University of Texas, which he’d deferred in his early 20s to chase his acting dreams.
“It’s like I’ve earned the ability to go back to my family,” Powell said.
He revealed that advice from Oscar winning actor — and fellow Texan, Matthew McConaughey — helped him decide to ditch his home in the Hollywood Hills to set up a base in his hometown of Austin.
McConaughey had told him Hollywood was “the Matrix, man. You plug in and it’s all fake world.”
McConaughey, who also lives in Austin, had told him the Texas city was by comparison “all real. Those are my friends, that’s my family, my actions matter there.”
“And he’s right. And for me, especially as my parents get older and my niece and nephew are growing up, I want a separation of those worlds,” Powell added.
