TAYLOR Swift has won the Grammy for Album of the Year and used her acceptance speech to make a subtle dig at Kanye West.
Swift singled out those “who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame” as she claimed the Grammy for her hit album, 1989. It came after West released a song called Famous — which has been widely criticised for its misogynistic lyrics — in which he claimed he made Swift famous. The 26-year-old became the first woman to win Album of the Year twice. “I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or you fame,” Swift said on stage at the Grammys. “But if you just focus on the work, and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you are going, you will look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you that put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.” Meanwhile, Lady Gaga performed an emotional tribute to the late David Bowie at the Grammy Awards. The trippy performance — where Gaga wore Bowie-esque costumes, an orange Ziggy Stardust wig and hologram make-up — featured songs including Space Oddity, Changes, Suffragette City, Fashion, Fame and Rebel Rebel.
