Two Queensland bachelors are putting their love on the line in hopes of finding their future wife.
Farmer David, 29, and Farmer Lachy, 28, have bravely put their hat in the ring for the upcoming 2023 season of Farmer Wants A Wife.
Seven seductive farmers will be up for grabs next year, but we think the two handsome Queenslanders are sure to spark some romance.
Both said they’ve applied to the show to find that “special someone” to share their life with.
All that’s left is for single ladies to apply to be on Farmer Wants A Wife 2023 to secure their chance to meet their country gentleman caller.
Who are Queensland’s 2023 contestants?
David is a fourth-generation an apple farmer from near Warwick looking for his “pear” and considers himself to be a fairly outgoing bloke who is always looking for adventure.
When it comes to meeting his potential future wife on the Farmer Wants A Wife show, David said he’s ready to push himself out of his comfort zone.
“The thought of moving to the country is very daunting for a lot of people but we live in a world now more than ever, thanks to Covid, that distance is not a limiting factor on continuing your own goals and passions remotely,” he said.
“If you think we have similar interests or there could be a spark between us then come and join me on this adventure.”
Meanwhile, Lachy, a mixed crop and cattle farmer from Millmerman, says he loves to cook and smoke meats and thinks he’d make a fantastic dad.
For ladies who enjoy a balanced work, play lifestyle, Lachy also comes with barn that turns into a nightclub.
He said he’s ready to “enrich” his life by adding someone else to it.
“At first, I’m a little shy but once you get to know me, I’ll start to open up and show you who I truly am. I am sure we will have a great time,” he said.

Farmer David, 29 – Pozieres, Queensland
Type of Farm: Apples
Height: 5ft 10” | 179cm
1. Describe yourself in a few sentences:
I would describe myself as an outgoing person who likes to enjoy life, while maintaining a focus on building a future on the farm. I’ve always worked hard to achieve goals and have had a lot of fun along the way. I believe I have a positive outlook on life probably made all the better by a supportive genuine group of friends and family.
2. List five things that make you unique:
While I think everyone is unique, I think the pathway I took to right now probably has the biggest impact on who I am. We worked from a young age so we always we looked forward to holidays and developed a strong work ethic. Growing up we had about 100 backpackers come through the farm every year, which gave us a childhood of making friends all over the globe. It wasn’t all work though. As a family, we travelled all over the place as kids; trekking in Botswana, Cycling Vietnam, Kayaking Croatia, and many more adventures which in combination with the exposure to so many backpackers ignited a strong passion for exploring the world.
After finishing school, I went on to study Civil Engineering at The University of Queensland, which is the industry I worked in until I was 27. After this I was in a position to take the first step in a lifelong plan to join my brother and Parents to form the fourth generation for our family farm.
3. What are your interests?
My interests while quite broad I would have to simplify down to live music, cooking for friends, travel and planning future projects both on and off the farm. I also love taking my two Border Collies for weekend adventures to the beach/ forest/ waterfalls.
4. What is your favourite music / musician / band?
This is a question I’ve looked at for quite a while and I like a broad range of music depending on the mood. But in the interest of answering it, I guess I would look at it in about 3 ways.
Relaxed – Caamp, Blind Pilot, Dustin Tebbut
Guitar – Dope Lemon, JJ Cale
Less Relaxed – Flight Facilities, Golden Features
My favourite thing about music is the memories attached to when you first start listening to a song, and for this reason my favourites will hopefully always be evolving.
5. What is your favourite movie and why?
I wouldn’t say I have as strong as an attachment to movies as I do music. Usually when a movie goes on it’s to switch off for a couple of hours and often that means falling asleep. I did always like watching “A Good Year”. While it may not be the best rated movie of all time the storyline always resonated with me as Max detaches from his busy corporate world and finds himself on a farm in France enjoying the simpler pleasure of life while faced with a few of the struggles of farming. While I don’t plan on moving to France it is a movie that always made me feel optimistic about moving home eventually.
Also, Peaky Blinders, number one TV show.
6. What sort of partner are you looking for?
I probably won’t be able to properly answer this until I meet that person. However, characteristics that are important to me are things like a positive outlook, passionate about the things close to them, adventurous, kind and a little bit cheeky.
7. What age partner are you looking for?
I think it's important for a partner to have similar goals and outlook as you. Being around the same age often helps this however people all have different journeys and common goals can come at different ages for different people. Generally, within a few years either side of 29 would be ideal
8. What values are you looking for in a partner?
Positive, Passionate, Adventurous, Someone with strong friendships
9. What is really important to you in a relationship?
The most important feeling in a relationship is that light warm feeling when you are around someone. This doesn’t mean there is never disagreements but generally life should be fun. It’s also very important to me that during life’s harder moments a relationship is strong enough to work forward as a team. Plenty of Laughter, Plenty of Smiles.
10. How would you describe yourself in a relationship?
I think I’d be considered a very caring, fun and hardworking partner. I also like to think I’m open to working to make my partners own plans possible while working in with the farm. The only aspect of me that I can’t change is the location where the business will be based.
11. What qualities do you bring to relationships?
As touched on I think I bring a sense of adventure to a relationship while being a caring and supportive partner.
12. What is the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?
I do like to cook a meal so often my romantic gestures involve cooking and going somewhere special to enjoy the food and moment. I did record a cover accompanied with a video once which was probably the most daunting public romantic gesture I have done, but I think it paid off at the time.
13. What values do you pride yourself on most?
I’ve always prided myself on going about life with passion. I also know our strong family values have a huge impact on my life. Outside of that I think the phrase work hard play hard pops up a fair bit.
14. Who are you closest to in your family?
I’m very close to my brother, Paul. We have always been close and as our world constantly changes from being kids to now, we have maintained that relationship and are always a big support for each other.
15. Do you have any children?
No
16. Would you like to have children? If so, how soon after meeting the right person?
Yes, I think with the right person starting a family is a very exciting prospect when the time is right.
17. What is the most interesting thing about you?
I think my life and the way I go about life keeps things interesting. I guess everyone finds different things interesting about people though based on their own life.
18. Where would you like to be in five years’ time?
In five years’, time I would love to be continuing on this adventure but with someone to share it with. If the past decade has proven anything, however, what that looks like is constantly changing so I’m excited to seeing what’s around the corner.
19. What is your philosophy on love?
For me love is finding the ultimate teammate to do life with. The person who shares your world on a deeper level than anyone else.
20. What would you like to say to anyone thinking of applying to meet you?
When I think about this adventure the thing that keeps popping into my mind is that I’ve never pushed myself out of my comfort zone and I haven’t benefited from it. The thought of moving to the country is very daunting for a lot of people but we live in a world now more than ever, thanks to Covid, that distance is not a limiting factor on continuing your own goals and passions remotely. It may just look a bit different to what you have imagined. If you think we have similar interests or there could be a spark between us then come and join me on this adventure.
