Emmys: Fonda, Tomlin and Parton give the world a 9 to 5 reunion and sledge Trump in the process

THE crowd roared as these three Hollywood legends delivered a slapdown of Donald Trump at the Emmys. And they didn’t even say his name.

JANE Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton have sledged President Donald Trump so spectacularly at the 69th Emmy Awards they didn’t even need to say his name.

The trio’s appearance at the Los Angeles ceremony on Monday was exciting enough and marked a reunion for the former co-stars of the 1980 hit movie 9 to 5.

Presenting an award together, the legends referenced the storyline of the comedy flick — about a group of women who plan to topple their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” boss.

Fonda told the A-list crowd: “In 1980, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot boss”.

Tomlin finished the thought: “And in 2017 we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot boss!”

While the actors didn’t name President Donald Trump, the jab was firm and the audience roared.

“Tonight we’re here to recognise some men who conduct themselves with the utmost integrity,” Fonda added, before presenting the Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or movie.

Alexander Skarsgard picked up the gong for his work in Big Little Lies.

It was just one of many insults about the US president thrown around throughout the ceremony.

In his opening monologue, Stephen Colbert took many digs at President Trump and his days as host of reality series The Apprentice.

“The biggest TV star of the last year is Donald Trump … and Alec Baldwin. You guys are neck and neck. And Alec, you’re up against a lot of neck,” he said.

Colbert pointed out that if Trump had won an Emmy, he probably wouldn’t have bothered to run for President — “so in a way, this is all your fault.”

Colbert even dug up a forgotten moment from last year’s Presidential debates when Trump mentioned he “should’ve won” an Emmy for The Apprentice.

“But he didn’t. Unlike the Presidency, Emmys go to the winner of the popular vote,” he quipped.
