It’s music to your ears – Valley Fiesta is back thanks to the Brisbane City Council and QMusic with a four-day line-up of live gigs across 14 venues from November 19 to November 22.

For more than two decades, Valley Fiesta has been Brisbane’s weekend-long extended party showcasing the established and emerging talent of Fortitude Valley’s live music scene in new and heritage venues.

At this year’s Valley Fiesta music fans are invited to party-on to a jam-packed program of homegrown acts.

The first line-up release features an inspired mix of artists that includes local luminaries from legendary singer Robert Forster and ‘90s alt-rockers Screamfeeder to new talent including dance-punksters DZ Deathrays performing a special DJ set and singer-songwriter Jaguar Jonze.

Rounding out the all-Queensland line-up so far are indie rockers The Cairos, indie-folk singer-songwriter Greta Stanley, punk rockers Total Pace, local DJ Dameeeela, eclectic dance act First Beige, our first lady of song Kate Miller-Heidke, plus new Brisbane transplants, rock ingenues Tired Lion.

These stellar acts will be showcased on stage at to live music venues in and around Fortitude Valley, including Black Bear Lodge, The Brightside and The Brightside – Outdoors, O’Skulligans, The Tivoli and The Triffid.

With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing a shutdown of Brisbane’s beloved Fortitude Valley Live Entertainment Precinct earlier this year, there’s never been a better time to welcome people back to clubs and venues, according to QMusic CEO Angela Samut.

“The return of Valley Fiesta comes at a critical time for venues in the Fortitude Valley Live Entertainment Precinct who have been hit extremely hard after COVID-19 shutdowns and subsequent capacity restrictions,” she says.

“We are grateful for the support from Brisbane City Council. This event has been solely orchestrated to enliven the Valley economy and get people back to frequenting live music again and celebrate Brisbane‘s music scene and local heritage.”

Powderfinger and The Church guitarist and Valley Fiesta 2020 Ambassador Ian Haug says Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley has an international reputation as one of Australia’s premier entertainment precincts.

“From The Saints and The Go-Betweens to Regurgitator and Screamfeeder to DZ Deathrays, WAAX and The Cairos, Brisbane has been a long-time incubator of musical talent through live music venues and festivals,” he said. “Brisbane has an amazing music heritage and I’m excited for this year’s Valley Fiesta program that looks back at our past as well as highlighting the fantastic new talent being nurtured in our city’s live music venues.”

Valley Fiesta 2020 is a COVID-safe event and will be operating within current COVID-safe plans stipulated by Queensland Health. Patrons are advised to refer to each individual venue’s booking or FAQ page for specific COVID-safe plans at the time of booking.

Valley Fiesta 2020 is presented by Brisbane City Council and QMusic. Tickets are available direct from each venue or by visiting qmusic.com.au from 29 October.
