The Rhapsody tour kicks off in River City

FOLLOWING a bitter welcome to the country, Queen are gearing up to open their Australian tour in Brisbane on Thursday.
The band arrived in the city on Tuesday, when guitarist Brian May lashed out at a local Channel 7 cameraman after he continued to film once asked to stop.
The 72-year-old is preparing for a massive six show stint in the country with drummer Roger Taylor and lead singer Adam Lambert for their Queen + Adam Lambert The Rhapsody Tour which kicks off at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night.
After the success of the film Bohemian Rhapsody, the highest grossing music biopic of all time, Lambert’s vocals and Queens’ musical genius are a proven mixture for success, with over 180 gigs under their belt.
Thursday’s Suncorp Stadium event will see hits We Will Rock You and Don’t Stop Me Now come to life in an all-new concert experience, with Freddie Mercury’s famous “Ay Oh” blaring from the big screen in the encore.
Fans can count on the British Rockers to open with Now I’m Here and close with We Are The Champions, before a taped David Bowie’s Heroes outro.
The performers will be joined by long-term collaborators Spike Edney on keyboards, Neil Fairclough on bass, and Tyler Warren on percussion.
The show must go on in the event of rain, but dangerous conditions like lightning or severe winds may cause changes to the concert.
Ticket holders are advised to refer to Suncorp Stadium’s Facebook and Instagram pages for weather updates in the lead-up to the event.
Suncorp Stadium allows umbrellas to be taken into the venue though cannot be raised once inside, bags over A3 size and all backpacks are not permitted.
Gates open at 6pm with Queen and Lambert set to begin at 8pm.
Queen and Adam Lambert will take to the stage in Sydney’s Fire Fight Australia concert this Sunday for national bushfire relief.
The ANZ Stadium concert, hosted by comedian Celeste Barber, will see performances from Michael Buble, Alice Cooper and k.d lang among several other big names.
All ticket profits and contributions through Ticketek will go to the Rural and regional fire services in affected states, the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery and the RSPCA Bushfire appeal.
The tour has taken to the shores of North America and Asia before reaching New Zealand and Australia this February.
The Rhapsody Tour will close in Europe, with their final show on the eighth of July in Spain, marking one year since the worldwide concert tour began.
