Blue season 3: Celebrity special guests revealed

Season three of the beloved children’s TV cartoon Bluey has wrapped up, with yet another series full of appearances by A-list celebrities in the books. This is who they were.

Wackaddo! 11 new Bluey episodes have dropped

As critically acclaimed Australian children’s television show Bluey continues to grow in popularity throughout the world so does the number of celebrities lending their voice to the cartoon in guest roles.

Produced by Brisbane-based company Ludo Studio, the program, which recently won its second Logie for Outstanding Children’s Program, first aired in October 2018.

Set in Brisbane, Bluey is an animated series about a family of blue and red heelers including six-year-old Bluey, her sister, four-year-old Bingo, mum Chilli and dad Bandit and their daily lives.

As the cartoon gathered popularity among Australian children and their families, followed by families around the world, the star power of the show’s guest appearances skyrocketed.

Season three - airing on television now - boasts appearances from Australian sporting legends, media personalities and celebrities, including actress Rose Byrne, who voices Chilli’s sister Brandy in the episode ‘Onesies’.

‘The Decider’ episode features guest appearances from Aussie rugby league legend Johnathan Thurston as well as sports commentators Ray Warren and Gordon Bray.

They commentate one of the three State of Origin football games as the family watches together.

American actor, rapper and playwright, Lin-Manuel Miranda, also makes a guest appearance as the voice of a horse named Major Tom in an episode titled ‘Stories’, while Australian actress Miranda Tapsell voiced Dougie’s mum in the ‘Turtleboy’ episode.

Dougie, who is deaf, was introduced as a new character this season.

The Bluey series resonated with parents and children around the world so quickly that, by May 2019, the show had achieve 75 million program plays since it premiered in October 2018 — the highest figure ever for any ABC-TV show, surpassing even The Wiggles and Play School.
