Rugby league star’s shock proposal at 30th birthday party

A 30th birthday bash has turned into an engagement party after premiership-winning Brisbane Broncos captain Ali Brigginshaw proposed to her partner.

WOMEN’S rugby league star Ali Brigginshaw is engaged to her partner Kate Daly.

The premiership-winning Brisbane Broncos captain got down on one knee in front of the couple’s family and friends while celebrating her 30th birthday party in Brisbane on Saturday night.

“I will never forget the day you asked me to be your girlfriend, 16 months to this day. And I hope you will never forget this moment. I love you with all my heart; will you marry me?” Brigginshaw said over the microphone as Daly clutched her hands to her face.

The couple spent the night celebrating at The Calile Hotel on James St.

Sharing images of their engagement to Instagram on Sunday, Daly wrote: “Celebrating Ali’s 30th Birthday and this happened. Thankyou so much to everyone who has messaged and called since last night and to everyone who was there to watch this special moment happen. I am so overwhelmed with the amount of love and support we have received and I am so happy to say YES to you @ali_brigg”.

After winning the inaugural NRLW premiership in 2018, a photo of Brigginshaw sharing an emotional kiss with Daly went viral.

“I’ve never been one to hide my affection,” Brigginshaw said at the time.

“She’s the person I love.”
