Could wedding bells be on the cards for Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her surgeon beau Reza Adib?
A source close to the couple says they are “completely besotted with each other”.
Another source says that although Ms Palaszczuk, 52, has only been dating the Iranian-born weight-loss surgeon for a year, the power couple have become “inseparable”.
“Before he came along, she was going home to an empty house,” the source says.
Others who are close to Dr Adib say this is his most serious relationship since the breakdown of his marriage to Brisbane dermatologist Carol Adib, with whom he has two young children.
It is also the most significant relationship for Ms Palaszczuk since she became Premier in 2015.
The loved-up couple were spotted kissing at Wednesday night’s State of Origin decider at Suncorp Stadium, proudly showing off their depth of affection for one another.
Decked out in maroon, they were also seen jumping up and down with excitement as Queensland tore through the NSW Blues.
Before dating Ms Palaszczuk, Dr Adib, who lives in a multimillion-dollar Italianate mansion in Indooroopilly, was previously linked to a string of other women, including models.
Ms Palaszczuk has been married twice before – to Simon Every, a former Labor ministerial chief-of-staff, and George Megalogenis, a journalist, author and political commentator now based in Melbourne.
Ms Palaszczuk and Dr Adib met at the races in July 2021, before going public with their relationship in September last year.
They have since been spotted at every glittering red carpet event around the South East, including the Magic Millions and the premiere of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic, both on the Gold Coast.
Ms Palaszczuk also controversially invited her boyfriend to a meeting in Sydney on May 1 between Brisbane Olympic organisers and senior members of the International Olympic Committee.
She later apologised and said it should not have happened.
“I am very lucky and very blessed to have someone that supports my role – it is a big role to run this state,” she said.
“My partner will be coming with me to different functions but he will not be coming to any meetings or catch-ups.”
