As the breakdown of Sam and Phoebe Burgess’s marriage continues to play out in the media, Sunday Confidential hears Phoebe is making plans to pack up and move to Bowral to be closer to her family.
A week after The Sunday Telegraph revealed the pair had gone their separate ways — for a second time — comes news Phoebe is planning to relocate to her home town with two-year-old daughter, Poppy, and 10-month-old son, Billy.
The journalist is currently living in the couple’s $3.8 million Maroubra home. However, a recent break-in and the fact her estranged husband has relocated to an apartment in Coogee has meant the Johnson & Johnson ambassador has been escaping to the Southern Highlands at every opportunity.
“It’s only an hour away from Sydney so not too hard for Sam to still see the kids and Phoebe to be able to attend events for her clients,” one well-placed insider said.
“It makes sense as Phoebe’s support network is in Bowral. She grew up there, her mum and dad are there and her sister Jemima has just moved home with her two young children after getting a new job there as a teacher.
“One thing is for sure, it is definitely over this time and they are now trying to figure out how to co-parent long-term.”

The Burgess marriage woes hit the headlines in December last year when the couple split just three weeks after Billy’s birth.
Not long after reports of their marriage breakdown came to light, the Rabbitohs star and England international was photographed leaving their Sydney eastern suburbs home with suitcases and not wearing his wedding ring.
Sunday Confidential understands the couple are preparing to put the Maroubra home on the market.
At the time Burgess was understood to be living between celebrity accountant Anthony Bell’s $11.5 million Dover Heights mansion and the Nana Glen farm of Souths co-owner Russell Crowe.
Three months later, the pair put on a united front and appeared to rekindle their relationship, with Phoebe telling Stellar magazine in April: “We are together, we are married”.
“We’ll bunker down and look after each other,” she said.
The couple tied the knot in Bowral in 2015 after one year of dating. They met at an Aviici concert.
