But the 24-year-old is realistic when it comes to the pressures of a relationship on top of his busy career travelling the world.

“I am open to it, for sure, but obviously the priority is my sport, which is a big commitment for me,” James told Confidential.

“If I was to have a partner, it is a lot of travelling and time away from them and overall it can be pretty tough but, of course, everyone needs a bit of loving.”

James has been single since March and is currently enjoying his “off season” in Mount Buller.

He won a bronze medal in the half-pipe at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, in February, where he was also the Australian flag-bearer.

While the Oakley ambassador has plenty of competitions ahead of him before the next Olympics in Beijing, he has his sights firmly set on winning gold for his country in four years’ time.

“I will absolutely still be competing,” he declared. “I will be turning 28 that year. If I play my cards right and make sure I look after myself, I will most definitely be at Beijing in 2022. Being 24, I can see what helps to keep me in shape and what doesn’t, and making sure that I can moderate things if I need to. Obviously drinking and partying, I don’t do much of it anyway; it is about keeping up with the fitness.”

The athlete continued: “My eyes are set firmly on the gold. I will keep chipping away at it and eventually it will work up but I try not to look too far into the future because you can lose track of what your goals are.”

James won gold at the Winter X Games in Aspen in 2017 and also has a silver and two bronze medals. He has two golds from the World Championships.

At 188cm tall, James is much taller than most of his competitors. “I don’t know if it is intimidating,” he said.

“Maybe because I am a little different, it might shake my competitors a little bit.”
