Nick Cummins admits he didn’t enjoy his time on The Bachelor during Melbourne Cup appearance

NICK Cummins has been laying low since his controversial stint on The Bachelor, but the former rugby player has returned to public life at the Melbourne Cup and opened up on his decision to appear on the show.

NICK ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins has no regrets about his stint on The Bachelor despite sparking national outcry when the former rugby player didn’t choose a winner.

“I don’t regret it,” Cummins told Confidential.

“I didn’t enjoy it a great deal but I don’t regret it because I learnt a lot.”

The 31-year-old former rugby player disappointed loyal fans in the final episode when, after weeks of courting dozens of women, he opted to stay single.

“It was a fair end,” he said. “Life is good. I have bounced back and I am feeling good.”

Cummins has kept a low profile in the months since the show came to an end, recently spending time in Queensland shooting for National Geographic.

He chose the Melbourne Cup to make his return to public life as he enjoyed the hospitality in the GH Mumm marquee in the famed Birdcage at Flemington Racecourse.

“I’ve never been to a Melbourne Cup,” he said in his trademark Aussie larrikin accent. “I watched Makybe Diva dominate three times in a row on TV and I’ve always wanted to come down and see something similar.”

Cummins opted to pull his trademark gold locks back under a hat and wore a suit for the event.

“There’s a time for everything,” he said of his outfit. “Never judge a book by its cover and never under estimate the Honey Badger.”

As for the future, and specifically his love life, Cummins said: “My love life is very low key, I am a bit gun shy mate, I am just hiding out.
