Back in the day Emma Healy would have had to parade in a swimsuit, but the Miss World Australia quest has moved on.
Now it’s all about fundraising as well as inner and outer beauty according to Ms Healy, 25, who has made the national finals to be held at Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast on April 29.
“One of the things I love is that it is no longer just a swimsuit competition,” she said. “It is a fitness competition though and we’re doing a Ninja warrior course as part of it, and I have been training for that. Before entering the only thing I knew I learnt from watching Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality.”
Ms Healy works as a lighting technician and stage manager at QPAC. She also freelances and had a stint recently on Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic.
As part of the Beauty with a Purpose program she has been busy raising funds for Variety, The Children’s Charity and the fundraising continues until the finals. There will be a runway walk and she will strut her stuff in two dresses by Tania Olsen Designs of Brisbane and in Novo Shoes, footwear sponsors for contestants.
And there will be a talent segment.
“I will be singing Rise Like a Phoenix which was done by Conchita for Eurovision in 2014,” she says.
