COVID-19: International flight cap to be lifted to 6000 returning Aussies a week

Mick Fanning has jetted off to America with his fiancee and two-month-old son Xander so the baby can finally meet his grandmother.

It comes three months after Fanning’s fiancee Breeana Randall made a public plea for advice to get her mother to Australian from her Californian home for the birth of Xander.

Despite only being two month old, Fanning said the baby boy’s first flight “was a dream.”

Like his dad he got on the plane and slept,” he said.

“Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions @breeanablue (sic) mom wasn’t able to make it to Australia for the birth or to meet him so we decided to make our way to California for a few months.”

“Mothers and daughters have a special bond so to see @mommadeb22 (sic) and Papa Fresh finally meet Xander was so special.”

“It’s tough times around the world but it’s what you do for family that matters.”

American model Randall was 35 weeks pregnant with Xander in July when she turned to Instagram for advice on how to get her mother halfway around the world in the midst of a pandemic.

““My mom (sic) has missed out on my entire pregnancy and was meant to be here in May and be here for the birth of her first grand baby in August,” she wrote.

“I’m her only child, and my father is in heaven, so you can imagine how important this is for both of us.”
