Lizzie Buttrose’s son is dating one of her close friends Julia Maguire
Sydney socialite Lizzie Buttrose is often in the gossip columns, but this time it’s her 20-year-old son that is the talk of the town — thanks to his romance with his mum’s close friend.

Sydney socialite and former it-girl Lizzie Buttrose is no stranger to gossip columns having provided ample fodder over the years.
However it seems now it’s her son who is the talk of the town thanks to his romance with a much older woman.
Sources have revealed Buttrose’s 20-year-old son Andrew Spira — a self-styled business fund manager — is current dating Julia Maguire, a 36-year-old investment relations expert who runs her own consultancy.
And according to those close to the Buttrose clan, Maguire is one of Lizzie’s closest pals and has been for many years.

It’s understood Maguire and Spira began dating earlier this year and have been “going strong” ever since.
The pair, whose 16-year age gap is nothing new among some of Sydney’s wealthier men
and their consorts, have been globetrotting the world since they began dating — documenting their love on social media.
But despite one source’s claim that Buttrose — the niece of Ita Buttrose and sister of convicted dealer Richard Buttrose — is not particularly “enthused” about the match, Maguire on Saturday said nothing could be further from the truth.
“Not at all, I spoke to Lizzie two days ago,” Maguire told Sunday Confidential on Saturday.
“The family are all very special to me.”
The last time Buttrose and her son made headlines, things were decidedly less cordial.
Buttrose faced a two-hour hearing at Waverley Court last year after being charged with “threatening injury” to her son as a witness in judicial proceedings in a separate matter.
The charges, however, were later dropped.
