Global superstar DJs Tiësto and Kygo had Brisbane pumping on Saturday night when they headlined Palm Tree Music Festival at Riverstage.
Fresh off thrilling crowds in Aspen, Colorado, the renown festival hit Australia this weekend, playing Sydney on Friday and Brisbane on Saturday before moving to Melbourne on Sunday.
The threat of heavy rain didn’t deter the thousands who flocked to Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and the world-famous DJs didn’t disappoint.
Norwegian DJ and Palm Tree Music Festival founder Kygo took to the stage at 7pm, putting on a spectacular visual display with wild, colourful laser beams shooting into the crowd and powerful bursts from smoke machines filling the stage.
He had the crowd popping off to all his best tracks including his smash hit Whitney Houston remix of Higher Love.
But it was his grand finale which became a goosebumps moment.
Multi-platinum selling Australian artist Conrad Sewell joined Kygo on stage for an unforgettable rendition of their hit track ‘Firestone’. Sewell’s powerful voice had the crowd entranced.
Tiësto burst on to the stage minutes later, blasting a tease to one of his biggest songs The Business.
And then the beat dropped and the heavens opened.
The non-stop drizzle didn’t dull the energetic crowd of mostly 20 and 30-something millenials who danced up a storm in the rain.
The fashions were wildly varied with some dressed in active wear, some donned ponchos while others wore dominatrix-inspired outfits complete with high boots.
And not-to-be forgotten, there were plenty of the classic festival mainstay - juiced up, shirtless dudes - kicking around.
It made for spectacular people watching.
Dutch DJ Tiësto - once voted the ‘greatest DJ of all time’ - had the crowd heaving to his best tracks including 10:35, The Motto and The Business.
Tiësto joined Kygo at Palm Tree Music Festival after he was forced to push back his Australian tour last year due to the forever changing pandemic.
The pairing - who were also supported by Lost Frequencies, Sam Feldt and Frank Walker - put together an epic and unforgettable night that had thousands raving until the very last song.
