Keira Maguire is a sucker for punishment and she is the first to admit it.
The 33-year-old has signed on for the upcoming Bachelor in Paradise series — her fourth reality TV show appearance — despite admitting it often ends in tears.
“I don’t know why I do this to myself, what am I thinking?” Maguire told Sunday Confidential.
“Look, when they first called me I said no, but then I went overseas and I thought, you know what, I am having FOMO (fear of missing out) and will regret not doing it, so I signed on.”
She does admit one reason she continues to say yes to appearing on reality TV is because she needs to remain relevant in order to pay the bills.
“At the end of the day this is my business so there is an element of me having to keep myself relevant … it is how I make money and survive,” she said.
“But also, the real reason is I get a little bit bored sometimes and like to mix it up. I am not someone who can live a mundane life.”

When it comes to what polarising Maguire is looking for in a guy, it seems she knows exactly what she’s after.
“We like height, he has to be very tall,” she said.
“I am not going to sacrifice on looks this time, he needs to be good looking, like really good looking. And he has to have big hands.”
Admitting she is desperately after a fairytale romance, Maguire said she truly believes looking for love on reality TV is how it is going to happen for her.
“There isn’t anything necessarily I love about the show, it’s actually quite the opposite. But at the end of the day it has gotten me to where I am and I am very happy,” she said.
“The Bachelor franchise is my favourite. I love being a part of it. It is family friendly and not tacky like some of the shows are and it is fun to watch.”
MEET THE CAST
Meanwhile, with Macguire set to join another batch of loveless hotties in trying their luck on a tropical island, Confidential takes a look through the contestants on the third season of Bachelor In Paradise Australia. Here, they tell us their thoughts on the competition:
Abbie Chatfield – 24 – Bachelor season seven with Matt Agnew
I feel like my first go trying to find love was consumed by drama. After coming runner up on Matt’s season of The Bachelor Australia, I kind of want a second chance to find someone right for me.
Brittany Hockley – 32 – Bachelor season six with Nick Cummins
I like to take on opportunities when they present themselves. I think the best things can come when you are out of your comfort zone. I’m doing this again because I’m still single and need a holiday.
Brittney Weldon – 26 – Bachelor season six with Nick Cummins
My whole dating life is a dating disaster date one after the other. I’m starting to think it is me.
Cassandra Mamone – 34 – Bachelor season seven with Matt Agnew
I’m looking for someone tall, handsome, honest, loyal, funny, kind hearted and my best friend.
Ciarran Stott – 26 – Bachelorette season five with Angie Kent
Put me on an island with a load of birds and you’ll see a different side of me. I will always keep my options open.
Helena Sauzier – 25 – Bachelor season seven with Matt Agnew
My time on The Bachelor taught me to be a lot more open to finding love. It also built my confidence in so many ways. It’s made me more excited and determined to find the right person and not settle for just anyone.
Glenn Smith – 32 – Bachelorette season five with Angie Kent
I will make sure I’m always front and centre. I won’t go down without a fight if I believe there is a strong enough connection.
Jake Ellis – 33 – Bachelorette season two with Georgia Love, Bachelor in Paradise season one
Some of the greatest experiences of my life were being a part of both The Bachelorette Australia and Bachelor In Paradise Australia. Not only did I find love – something that was very real to me – but I also appreciate the people that I met along the way. The biggest thing that I have learnt is that some of my most exciting moments have been from taking chances, which is why I wanted to do it again.
Janey Birks – 30 – Bachelor season four with Richie Strahan
I want to find someone who loves me, someone who is supportive of who I am and what I want. I want someone that surprises and tickles me every day with their opinions, ideas and point of view. And who I can trust.
Jamie Doran – 40 – Bachelorette season five with Angie Kent
Who would you like to see in Paradise?
Abbie Chatfield, because she has dealt with criticism well. Timm, because he’s an all-round legend.
Keira Maguire – 33 – Bachelor season four with Richie Strahan, Bachelor in Paradise season one
In the past I have been a hopeless romantic and I do tend to fall very hard. But what I’ve learnt is that you really need to take your time. And that is probably the thing I’ve learnt the most from past relationships. Good things take time.
Mary Viturino – 32 – Bachelor season seven with Matt Agnew
I would totally get engaged. I wouldn’t pop the question, but if the feelings were there and someone asked me, I would say yes.
Niranga Amarasinghe – 28 – Bachelorette season five with Angie Kent
I’m looking for someone who is independent, funny, and willing to sacrifice and compromise.
Timm Hanly – 27 – Bachelorette season five with Angie Kent
I think the little taste of what could have been with Angie (Kent) just made me realise that I am ready for love.
