“One of my favorite moments on this leg was being able to FINALLY visit @LunaParkSydney,” she wrote with an accompanying image sitting in a dodgem car.
“I have looked out the window of my various hotel rooms for over 10 years dreaming about this place, the rainbow of glittering color in the middle of mundane grey business buildings … it looked like it was frozen in time, a simpler time. I love that it feels like you’re taking a time machine back to an authentic, incredibly preserved, corporate free, fun factory!”
Luna Park managing director Peter Hearne last month declared the venue could be forced to close if it fails to overturn a Land and Environment Court ruling which says it must apply for a development application every time it wants to move or replace a ride.
The court ruling is the latest in a long-running dispute battle between nearby residents and developers and Luna Park, which attracts more than one million visitors a year.

Since reopening in 2004 the heritage listed theme park has introduced at least 190 new rides without any issues, but a recent court ruling means now the fun park operator will need to submit a DA for each one. DA approvals for the park are costly, with the process usually taking up to 12 months.
Wading into the issue, Perry said: “I heard they are trying to destroy it and so I just wanna post that this smiling face has kept me smiling from across the water for over a decade … please don’t take my smile away! #savelunapark #historicalnostalgia.”
Others pushing to save Luna Park include Pink, who last week tweeted about the situation.
“Luna Park is such a special place to me and my family,” Pink wrote. “We’ve shared some incredible memories there — it’s one of the places we most look forward to visiting when on tour. I hope Luna Park is around forever and ever and ever!!!”

Speaking to the Telegraph last month, Luna Park MD Hearne said the new rules would cripple the theme park that first opened in 1935.
“The practicality of trying to operate this business for the long term having to seek a further consent every time we want to bring something new in is just totally impractical,” he said.
“We have over a million visitors a year coming to this precinct … the park is heritage listed, and one of the interesting things about it is it’s not just the bricks and mortar, but it’s actually the use of the precinct for entertainment.”
