Karl Stefanovic is back.
The axed Today Show host has been laying low since his axing while on honeymoon, but Stefanovic is edging his way towards prime time — but this time on radio.
2GB management today named Stefanovic, who was ousted from his position as host of Today following plummeting ratings, as one of six “regular contributors” who will join The Steve Price Show.
Erin Molan, Deb Knight, Phil Gould, Rita Panahi and Mieke Buchan are among the other media personalities set to join the veteran broadcaster.
Price claimed the prime afternoon spot on Macquarie Media’s major stations following a dramatic shake-up of the network’s lunchtime airwaves which saw popular 2GB host Chris Smith leave the radio station.
“They are obviously using some high profile media names in an attempt to make Chris Smith listeners remain listening,” one insider said.
“They want to make that 12pm-3pm weekday timeslot newsier and want to lure younger listeners and these contributors will do that.”

As of Monday, The Steve Price Show will broadcast from 12-3pm Monday to Friday on 2GB in Sydney, 4BC in Brisbane and network stations across Australia.
“The nature of media in these digital times means there is no shutdown for all of us including talk radio,” Price said.
“So much happens post the frantic breakfast setting up of the day and I’m excited to follow Alan Jones and Ray Hadley, Australia’s two most successful talk stars.
