Queensland’s teenage track sensation Gout Gout may be used to breaking records on the field, but this month the 17-year-old swapped spikes for a suit to enjoy a milestone of a different kind: his Year 12 formal.
The Ipswich Grammar School student and national sprinting star attended the senior formal on May 15, arriving in true statement style at Brisbane’s Victoria Park in a stretch pink Hummer.
Two weeks on, he’s shared a series of sweet snaps from the big night on Instagram.
The carousel captured Gout — who wore a tailored black suit, dark-red paisley tie, matching pocket square and red boutonniere — laughing with classmates, striking playful poses, and proudly showcasing his formal fit.
Among the highlights were a series of cute photos with his date Asha, who wore a striking strapless red gown with a matching corsage.
The pair looked perfectly co-ordinated and every bit the star couple of the night.
“I step light, but my presence heavy,” the rising track star captioned the post, a nod to his lightning footwork and growing public profile.
His classmates quickly filled the comments with fire and heart emojis, while fans of the sport were thrilled to see the typically laser-focused athlete soaking up a well-earned moment of celebration.
