Brisbane metro station Hit105 has reverted back to its heritage name, B105.

Breakfast hosts Stav, Abby and Matt announced the news on air this morning, saying Southern Cross Austereo would reinstate B105 five years after it was rebranded under the Hit Network.

“We are calling it what you’ve been calling it for the past five years,” co-host Matt Acton joked on air.

It had been his dream growing up to be on the breakfast show on B105, but having come onto the show under the Hit branding, he said, “I never got to say B105 and that was something I always felt I missed out on”.

Longtime host Stav Davidson, who has a B105 tattoo, said: “I’m back home”.

Adelaide’s Hit107 is also back to SAFM as part of a national strategy to localise the Hit Network in each city.

Southern Cross Ausetero chief content officer Dave Cameron, said the challenges presented by the global pandemic motivated the decision.

“Crazy times such as these often drive a movement back to nostalgia, familiarity and comfort, and as such there has never been a better time to bring back the much-loved and trusted legendary radio brand B105 to Brisbane,” he said.

“Our audience has great, passionate memories of B105 including being the home of some of Australia’s biggest and best radio shows over the years, and they’ll be hugely excited to have B105 back again, along with our successful breakfast show ‘Stav, Abby and Matt’.“

We know listeners will love the music and shows B105 brings to them as we continue our commitment to the local stories that matter to the people of Brisbane.”
