Brisbane Lions captain Dayne Zorko is looking forward to spending quality time with his family and new cub Giselle this Father’s Day.
Zorko, 33, has shrugged off recent controversy surrounding an on-field sledge of Melbourne’s Harrison Petty and embraced fatherhood as a “hands-on dad”.
He and fiancee Talia De Marco, 28, welcomed their first child together at Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital on July 4, and are looking forward to enjoying a nice lunch out together as a family.
He said Father’s Day was a great day to spend precious time with loved ones.
“With such a busy schedule for most of the year, it is great to be with the family and enjoy the day together,” he said.
“Considering Giselle is only a few weeks old, we can’t kick a football together yet, however I love our bath time and feeding her late night bottles.
“I also love bringing a cute little smile to her face.”
Zorko said his six-year-old son Louis had taken on big brother duties in his stride, enjoying baby Giselle’s company.
“Louis loves giving Giselle lots of attention,” he said.
Zorko said after a hard day of training he loved coming home to Giselle’s smiles, kisses and cuddles.
Ms De Marco said she loved watching her partner with their newborn daughter.
“It is next-level love explosion. Their daddy-daughter bond is so special,” Ms De Marco said.
“He is a pretty hands-on dad who definitely doesn’t mind changing a nappy.”
