Boots For Bubs: Adam Reynolds, Corey Oates support Mater Little Miracles

Brisbane Broncos winger Corey Oates has made an emotional return to the Mater Mothers’ Hospital neonatal critical care unit where his daughter was born.

During the annual Channel 9 telethon on Saturday night, Oates and Broncos skipper Adam Reynolds will auction the boots they wear in Brisbane’s match against the Melbourne Storm on Thursday to raise money for Mater Little Miracles.

Oates returned to Mater’s NCCU this week, five years after his daughter Montana was cared for in the same room after being born three weeks early.

“Montana was purple when she came out, and when you think of that stuff, when you walk back in there you appreciate the nurses and when you go through it you really respect what they do and the amount of effort and hours they put in,” Oates said.

“It brings back memories for sure, and it’s scary at the time but the staff in there, they make it seem so normal.

“I know it’s their job, but I think it’s one of the most important jobs in the world and I can’t say enough good things about those special people.

“Monty’s five now, this week actually, so it really hits home, we’re forever grateful.”

Oates encouraged people to donate whatever they can.

On Saturday, recorded special video messages from Oates and Reynolds will play in the lead-up and during the telethon.
