“I have no intention of over exerting myself or expecting too much from myself. I will enjoy the nine months and if I feel like I want to get back in shape after I will do it then,” she said.

“The pressure doesn’t come from Matt, it comes from myself. I went to the gym the other day and afterwards I had to have a two hour nap because I was exhausted.”

Mr Johnson told the Telegraph he fully supported Ms Byrne in whatever she chooses to do with her body.

“If you want to eat a packet of biscuits, do it,” he said. “I’ve never seen Laura look sexier.”
