Sportswear brand Muscle Nation has come under fire for writing offensive social media posts, which resurfaced this week.

The Australian label, which sells activewear and supplements, was forced to address “homophobic” Instagram posts from 2017.

During a heated exchange, Muscle Nation’s official Instagram page referred to one troll as a “fa***t”.

“Who the f*** would buy this s*** lmao,” the troll wrote in response to a promotional post.

Muscle Nation responded with, “dude you’re that guy in a DM wearing a p***y aqua tie you f***** … and go suck your mums t*** you look 5yo.”

A Muscle Nation rep then added, “you deserve to be beaten up by a pack of lesbians”.

In a statement to Confidential, the company apologised for the offensive posts.

“That episode in 2017 was a very crucial learning episode for us. Soon after the comments were posted, they were taken down,” the company said. “Muscle Nation does not tolerate hate or bigotry. We’ve used that incident as a learning point and we continue to educate ourselves every day … We have committed to change.”

Muscle Nation was co-founded by Chris Anastasiand Nathaniel Anthonyin Brisbane in 2016 and has since gone on to become a lucrative family business whose fans include influencers and reality stars like Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power.

It comes as other big fashion brands, including Zimmerman and P.E. Nation, have also come under fire as global protests against inequality have been gaining momentum.
