Singer Billie Eilish was asked a question in an interview, and people are divided on the internet on whether it should have been asked.

Singer Charli XCX has taken a break from having a brat summer to slam a question that her friend Billie Eilish was asked in an interview.

In an in-depth interview with the LA Times, Eilish, 22, was asked if she felt threatened by the success of her peers Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Charli XCX, whom she just collaborated with on the song Guess.

“Are you kidding me? I’m so happy for these bitches. It’s a crazy world when you get to the level they’re experiencing right now, and they’re doing great. Fans are drawn to them because they’re f**king awesome,” she told the publication.

The 22-year-old’s response to that question was republished on the popular X pop culture account Pop Crave.

The tweet received over 3.5 million views and one big response from Charli XCX.

Charli said she was “pausing” from celebrating the release of the remix version of her critically acclaimed and commercially successful album Brat to call out the question.

“Pausing brat completely different chaos to just say lol this is a crazy question,” she wrote on X.

Fans were on-board with the question being called out.

“They act like there can only be one pop girl! It is so weird,” one raged.

“They are trying to start beef,” another claimed.

“Right! Such a wild question,” someone else wrote.

“This is so sad how they are putting women against each other,” one wrote.

Not everyone thought the question was uncalled for, though. As others pointed out, the interview was meant to get some good quotes from the singer.

“Crazy questions make the best conversations,” one argued.

“Bold questions! Spark explosive conversations,” another echoed.

“Healthy competition is necessary,” someone else claimed.

“What is the issue?” Another asked.

Charli’s response to the question comes after she opened upabout her song “Girl You’re So Confusing,” which is on her album Brat and was later turned into a remix with Lorde, who the song is actually based on.

The song explores the complexities of female friendships and the weird feeling of not knowing if someone likes you or not.

Charli spoke to The Guardianabout that song and the unrealistic expectations that are placed on women in the public eye.

“We’ve got past the point of the media always pitting women against one another. “In the mid to late 00s, it literally sold magazines and papers: ‘Britney versus Christina’, ‘Paris versus Lindsay’.

“Then feminism became a popular marketing tool. In the music industry, it was distilled into this idea that if you support women, and you like other women, then you’re a good feminist.”

“The reverse of that is, if you don’t like all other women who exist and breathe on this Earth then you’re a bad feminist.”
