Queenslander and rising Hollywood star Jacob Elordi has said speculation he will be the next James Bond is “beautiful”.

The 26-year-old Kissing Booth star was surprised by reporter Terri Seymour from US entertainment news show Extra when she asked “Bond – would you be up for it?”

“Your name has been thrown around,” she continued.

Flashing his signature Hollywood smile, Elordi responded “Bond? James Bond?”

“Is that what they’re saying?” he added, as he shrugged his shoulders.

“Oh my goodness, wow … that’s beautiful.”

The rumours the Brisbane born actor will be the next 007 came after Daniel Craig announced 2021’s No Time To Die would be his fifth and final starring role in the long running franchise.

If the scuttlebutt has it correct that Elordi will step into the sports car driving, martini slinging spy role, it would make him the first MI6 agent played by a Queenslander and only the second Australian.

George Lazenby, from Goulburn, became the first and only Australian Bond and famously departed the franchise after his single performance in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Elordi has had a stellar rise in tinseltown with starring roles in the popular Kissing Booth film series, hit HBO show Euphoria, Saltburn and the new Priscilla Presley biopic, Priscilla, with his acclaimed portrayal of Elvis.

The Nudgee College Alumni was recently spotted on a Sydney beach filming the upcoming five-part drama series, The Narrow Road to the Deep North, with co-star Aussie Odessa Young.

Elordi, 26, will play the lead in the Prime Video series based on Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prize-winning World War II novel of the same name.

Spanning over multiple decades in time, the series tells of an unforgettable love story between Lieutenant Dorrigo Evans and Amy Mulvaney, played by Young.

Elordi plays the younger Dorrigo in the ‘40s as he embarks on a brief yet intense love affair with Amy that shapes his life.
