But in the end, cost was the deciding factor in choosing Mexico as the location for Karl Stefanovic’s wedding to Jasmine Yarbrough.
News Corp can reveal the couple looked at options in Australia, the Pacific and Indonesia before deciding on Central America.
“They looked at Wolgan Valley in the Blue Mountains but it was just too expensive,” a source told The Daily Telegraph.
“To have the wedding they wanted, it was going to cost more than $700,000. They get to do that in Mexico at a much lower and far more reasonable price.”

It is understood Stefanovic and fashion designer partner Yarbrough also looked at Kokomo Island in Fiji at a cost of several hundred thousand dollars.
They also looked at properties in Bali before opting for the One & Only Palmilla resort in the Mexican beach haven of Cabo.
Usually the resort has a minimum price of $1000 with top tier rooms costing several thousand dollars a night. Stefanovic though is understood to have negotiated a discounted rate, plus there are cheaper options including the Westin and Hilton nearby.
“They really wanted to find a venue that friends will all different budgets could stay and do a destination so it was a little holiday with family and friends to spend together.”
With no official events scheduled for day two of the four day celebration, some of the 200 attendees spent yesterday relaxing in the sprawling grounds of the beachfront resort.
Former foreign minister Julie Bishop flew into Mexico for the destination wedding.
Ms Bishop and Mr Panton were captured sharing a rare candid moment, walking together slowly along the northern beach of One & Only Palmilla resort.

As Mr Panton cooled off afterwards with a quick swim, Ms Bishop ran along the sand to grab a towel from a nearby attendant.
The pair then strolled back towards the hotel, greeting guests who lay sprawled on sun lounges on several waterfront terraces overlooking the Sea of Cortez.
Australian billionaire James Packer, a close friend of Stefanovic’s, who can’t make the wedding due to his mum’s 80th birthday, has been a regular visitor to the resort.
Initially just 15 rooms and having undergone several name changes, the One & Only Palmilla now has more than 120 rooms.
Guests are assigned a butler who unpacks their luggage and ushers them around the resort aboard a golf buggy.
It sits between two towns: San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, has a golf course and what is supposedly the most luxurious spa in Mexico.
The location for Stefanovic’s wedding has a rich celebrity history dating back many decades.
Built in 1956 by the son of the then Mexican president, the One & Only Palmilla was only accessible by boat or private plane. When it first opened, the top tier resort was a favourite of stars including Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, John Mayer and Cameron Diaz.
