Victoria and David Beckham celebrate 20th wedding anniversary

On July 4, 1999, a Spice Girl married the most famous footballer England has ever produced — and 20 years on they have proved countless gossip columnists wrong by staying together. Here’s a look back at Posh and Becks’ greatest moments.

Victoria and David Beckham have hit the 20 year marriage mark, defying the odds and their critics who said their romance would never last.

On July 4 the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary, after trying the knot in 1999.

Back then the event was dubbed ‘the wedding of the decade’.

The then Spice Girl and Manchester United footballer married in Ireland’s 15th century Luttrellstown Castle after announcing their engagement earlier that year.

Since then they’ve welcomed four children into their family and fought the pressures of their mega-stardom to stay together.

While they’ve certainly had their ups and downs and weathered scandals, rumours and parenthood, the couple have shown they’re stronger than ever and still very much smitten with each other.

Victoria marked the big milestone with a tribute video to her husband. “I love you so much,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

David shared his own declaring: “Wow 20 years, look what we created.”
