The worst and weirdest celebrity outfits of 2018
Amal Clooney, Emma Stone and both Gigi and Bella Hadid all made our list of the worst, weirdest and silliest celeb outfits of the year.
Red Carpet
Don't miss out on the headlines from Red Carpet. Followed categories will be added to My News.
It has been a bumper year for unusual celebrity red carpet looks, with stars competing to outdo each other in the fashion stakes at various award shows through 2018. Let’s take a look at some of the high (low) lights …
Amber Rose’s MTV Video Music Awards look was catwoman meets dominatrix, with one of Madonna’s conical bras thrown in for good luck.
Blac Chyna got in a brutal fight with a lampshade in the car park of the same event:
I’m still not sure who Sky is, but the “star” turned heads at the MTV Awards in an outfit that sets the new standard for “business casual”:
Am I jealous of Teyana Taylor’s abs? Of course. Am I jealous of her outfit? Not so much.
Major fashion faux-pas are rare at the Oscars nowadays — everyone’s so bloody well-behaved — but there were a couple of oddities this year, including singer St Vincent, who brought her own bin liner:
And then there was a strangely casual Emma Stone, all tied up in a ribbon:
There was also Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, jazzying up his tux with a leather harness:
Special shout-out to actor Ezra Miller, who showed an admirable commitment to the ridiculous at various premieres for his film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald in November:
Bebe Rexha’s Billboard Music Awards look seemed to be the result of too much static electricity on the red carpet:
… while Christina Aguilera’s oversized pinstripe dress came with a train so large it had its own employee:
I don’t know much about singer Z LaLa, but I do have a sudden hankering to watch Coneheads:
The ARIAs in November provided a few homegrown eyebrow-raisers, including serial red carpet shocker Imogen Anthony:
Stylist Fleur Egan, in an ensemble best described as “vulvariffic”:
And Jess Mauboy, who missed the mark with her meringue floaties:
Across the pond at the BRIT Awards, Swedish actor Noomi Rapace had a lot going on:
Meanwhile singer Jess Glynne proved she’s earned her support slot on the upcoming Spice Girls tour with these chunky platform heels:
Singer Poppy would’ve been hard-pressed to enjoy the champers and hors d’oeuvres in her American Music Awards getup:
Of course, the fashions at this year’s MET Gala were ridiculously OTT — that’s the dress code. Among the larger-than-life creations, Amal Clooney raised eyebrows with her unusual pants/skirt combo:
Leave it to Rihanna to properly interpret the Gala’s “Catholic” theme this year, dressing as an actual Pope:
And Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore half the Vatican on her head:
Let’s finish with a pair of Hadids. Firstly, Bella Hadid’s nude, sheer, cinched, see-through catsuit for a September Harper’s Bazaar event — the sort of outfit only a supermodel can pull off:
And the year’s best red carpet accessory came courtesy of Gigi Hadid, who went to New York Fashion Week clutching a clear bag with a nice bottle of rosé inside. Practical and delicious.
