Sweet way Bindi remembers Steve on what would have been his 60th birthday

Bindi Irwin has shared how she and her young daughter will celebrate her late father Steve on what would have been his 60th birthday.

Bindi Irwin has shared the sweet way she is remembering her late father Steve on what would have been his 60th birthday.

Steve Irwin, an Australian icon known as “The Crocodile Hunter” with a TV series of the same name, died in 2006 when Bindi was just eight years old.

Posting an old photo of the pair with a snake to her social media accounts on Tuesday, Bindi wrote a birthday message to “the greatest dad and wildlife warrior”.

“Today I’ll watch The Crocodile Hunter with Grace Warrior and share stories about her incredible Grandpa Crocodile,” the 23-year-old wrote.

“I love you with all my heart. Your legacy lives on.”

Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell’s daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell will turn one next month. Grace’s two middle names were chosen as a tribute to Steve’s legacy as “the most incredible wildlife warrior”.

Tuesday also marked what would have been Steve’s mother’s 80th birthday.

Lyn Irwin and her husband Bob founded what is now known as Australia Zoo in 1970.

Following in her family’s footsteps, Bindi is a keen wildlife conservationist and has continued to honour Steve throughout her life.

Last month, Bindi shared that she had acquired a new tattoo in honour of both Steve and Grace.

On the inside of her left wrist, she has the words “graceful warrior” tattooed in Steve’s handwriting, next to an illustration of a crocodile.

“The words I spoke to our daughter as I held her for the first time in my arms were, ‘my graceful warrior’. That’s how her name was born,” Bindi wrote on Instagram, sharing pictures of her new ink.

“This is my dad’s handwriting to keep him with me, always.

“Our dear alligator, Daisy, is next to these words to represent our conservation work as Wildlife Warriors.”
