She’s a style queen! From Givenchy to ASOS ... these are Meghan Markle’s best maternity outfits

Meghan Markle: Best pregnancy looks

She’s still relatively new to the royal fold but Meghan Markle has wasted no time cementing her style maven status, particularly when it comes to maternity wear.

From custom-made Givenchy to a $35 dress from H&M, the Duchess of Sussex has continued her trendsetting clothing choices well into her third trimester.

Of course her pregnancy wardrobe has been far from the usual, as the Duchess prepares to give birth to her first child to husband Prince Harry this month.

The former Suits star-turned-royal, 37, has turned heads in designer ensembles by Victoria Beckham, Erdem, Alexander McQueen, Carolina Herrera, Dior and Valentino, and sported affordable brands including ASOS, Madewell, H&M and Reformation on very rare occasions.

Still mostly favouring all-black, the Duchess has branched out into tonal dressing during her pregnancy, often teaming neural dresses with matching coats. and almost always with a pair of sky-high stiletto heels.

GIVENCHY GOWN

A highlight of Meghan’s maternity wardrobe was the Givenchy gown she wore for her surprise appearance at the 2018 British Fashion Awards in December.

She wore the skin-tight black dress, which featured a tasteful split to the knee, to present Givenchy designer Clare Waight Keller with the award for British Womenswear Designer of the Year. (Keller famously designed Meghan’s Givenchy wedding dress).

MEGHAN’S DRAMATIC ROYAL ROLE

In a rare public address, Meghan told the well-dressed audience: “As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear”.

“Sometimes it’s very personal and sometimes it’s emotional. But for me, this connection is rooted in really being able to understand that it’s about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women,” Markle added, as she cradled her baby bump.

SPORTY CHIC

Part of that “empowerment” came in February, when Meghan sported a more relaxed wardrobe on her trip to New York.

There, she celebrated her baby shower at a $105,000-a-night suit at The Mark Hotel with guests included her stylist BFF, Jessica Mulroney, and Amal Clooney.

Meghan seemed to return to her Hollywood roots in the Big Apple, even wearing Kardashian-esque activewear.

Her outfits included a pair of black leggings and a zip-fronted top, paired with navy Adidas runners, a camel-coloured coat and a black cap (worn with her hair out), teamed with a $395 bag by Cuyana.

CHAIN STORE MOMENT

The fashion world took a double-take in January, when Meghan stepped out in a figure-hugging neutral-coloured dress by Swedish chain store H&M.

The twist? The fine knit one-piece, from H&M’s maternity collection, only cost $35, and it quickly sold-out after the Duchess wore it to visit an animal shelter in London.

However, the chain store price-tag didn’t last long. Meghan paired it with a cashmere Emporio Armani overcoat and a $1200-plus Stella McCartney “Falabella” bag.

DIOR DAYS

Continuing her taste for neutrals, Meghan stepped out in a custom Dior gown during a three-day royal tour of Morocco with Prince Harry in February.

With her hair slicked back into a low bun, the Duchess teamed the cape dress with a Dior clutch and a pair of $12,000 snowflake earrings by Canadian designer Birks, to attend a reception hosted by the British ambassador to Morocco.

PRETTY IN PRINTS

While most of her maternity outfits have featured block colours or neutrals, Meghan has, on occasion, also tried her hand at prints.

One standout was a $338 black-and-white patterned Reiss dress, teamed with an Alexander McQueen blazer, and a pair of Manolo Blahnik pumps, worn to King’s College in London last month.

She added a Stella McCartney clutch for a designer touch.
