Distressing Amber Heard photos unearthed during Johnny Depp trial

Amber Heard’s nurse revealed photos she was sent by the actor which were taken after an alleged altercation with Johnny Depp.

The brutal back-and-forth in Johnny Depp’s defamation trial continued on Tuesday (AEST) as proceedings resumed in the actor’s court battle with ex-wife Amber Heard.

Heard’s nurse Erin Falatai was the final witness of the day, revealing photos of the actor’s red and bruised face she had received on text from Heard.

When asked what she made of the photos, Falatai replied, “I’m not an expert… I mean there’s color on her face in different areas, I don’t know what’s what.”

Falantai, who testified via a pre-recorded deposition, also spoke about a time where Heard’s sister Whitney said the actress was suicidal.

When asked if Heard ever expressed fear of Depp, Falantai said she couldn’t remember.

A note from Falantai was introduced in court detailing an instance when the nurse saw Heard bleeding from her lip, which the actress said was from a fight with Depp.

Earlier, Travis McGivern, a nine-year veteran of Depp’s security team, was the first to take the stand, testifying he saw Heard spit on Depp and throw a Red Bull can at him.

McGivern, who still works for Depp part-time, provided testimony via live video link.

He told the jury Heard called her ex-husband “a f***ing deadbeat dad” and “f***ing c***.”

McGivern told the jury that Amber Heard once punched the actor in the left side of his face.

“The initial look on his face kind of mirrored mine, kind of a look of shock,” McGivern said of Depp’s reaction.

“My job is ensure the safety and wellbeing of my clients, and I felt like I hadn’t done that,” he added.

Depp “had a nice little shiner” from the punch, McGivern said, noting the actor’s face was swollen and red in the aftermath.

He said that Depp never retaliated in the alleged March 23, 2015, incident at the couple’s Los Angeles penthouse.

“You name it, she’s spewed it,” McGivern said.

The security guard also claimed Heard once mocked and “demeaned” him for his career choice, saying she “threw some shade on me and my chosen career.”

McGivern was asked about Depp’s drug use and said he smoked weed “too many times to count”, adding it was a “daily” habit and Depp acts “chill” and “mellow” when he’s high.

McGivern also said he has seen Depp take cocaine “a couple” times, but noted the actor acts calm on the drug and it doesn’t change his demeanour.

Depp’s talent manager Jack Whigham was next up, providing detail about the Hollywood star’s earning capacity — which he argued was damaged by Heard’s 2018 Washington Post domestic violence op-ed.

“After the op-ed it was impossible to get him a studio film which is what we normally would have been focused on,” Whigham said.

“I was not successful in rescuing ‘Pirates’ for Johnny,” he added, referring to his apparent inability to convince producers to keep Depp on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.

Whigham testified about the actor’s massive salary, revealing what he was paid for certain movies. This included $10 million for “Murder on the Orient Express”, $8 million for “City of Lies”. Depp would have been paid $22.5 million for “Pirates of the Caribbean 6”, had the film been made.

But after lunch Heard’s lawyers returned fire. Her team went to lengths to point out that Depp had a record of being not so family-friendly, referencing the following incidents:

—Depp allegedly gave a drunk speech at a film awards ceremony in 2014.

—He insinuated he wanted to kill then-President Donald Trump in 2017.

—Depp also allegedly showed up drunk to a movie premiere in 2017.

—He received a flood of bad press after a 2018 Rolling Stone profile that revealed he has vodka for breakfast.

—Depp once was accused of attacking a crew member on set after drinking all day.

The trial continues.
