Glee’s Matthew Morrison fired over flirty messages’ to female contestant

Former Glee actor Matthew Morrison was fired from the US version of So You Think You Can Dance for “flirty” messages that made a female contestant “uncomfortable”.

Matthew Morrison was fired from the US edition of So You Think You Can Dance after he “sent flirty messages” to a female contestant.

According to People, the Glee alum was terminated as a judge on the Fox series “after he had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant”.

“They didn’t have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media,” the source told the publication.

“She felt uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers, who then got Fox involved. He was fired after they did their own investigation.”

The source added that the 43-year-old actor and the unnamed female contestant never met up off set, but the messages “crossed the line”.

Morrison announced he was departing the talent program last week after failing to follow “competition production protocols”.

“Having the opportunity to be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance was an incredible honour for me. Therefore, it is my deepest regret to inform you that I will be leaving the show,” he said in the statement to People.

“After filming the audition rounds for the show and completing the selection of the 12 finalists, I did not follow competition production protocols, preventing me from being able to judge the competition fairly,” he added.

“I cannot apologise enough to all involved and I will be watching alongside you all on what I know will be one of the best seasons yet.”

Matthew Morrison is best known for playing Mr Schue on Glee.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the dancing series’ early episodes were pre-taped. Morrison will still appear on-screen as a judge until mid-June.

A source told the outlet that a new judge is expected to be announced soon, in time for the next part of the competition, beginning June 15.
