Prince Andrew has been stripped of another title by the City of York

Troubled royal Prince Andrew has been stripped of another title, while Meghan Markle has been branded “deluded” and Prince Harry “destabilising”.

PRINCE Andrew’s fall from grace continues with the city of York removing his title as Honorary Freeman.

The York City Council decision was made in just 40 minutes during an extraordinary full council meeting on Wednesday

The disgraced Duke has held the title since 1987, another on the long list of royal and military honours being ripped away from him.

Described as “utter disgrace who brings shame wherever he goes. He needs to be declared persona non grata in York” by one speaker, Prince Andrew has so far refused to leave his Royal lodge, despite speculation he’d be unable to continue living at the Windsor mansion without financial support.

This latest embarrassment is expected to push further calls for Prince Andrew to relinquish his Duke of York title.

York town hall chief Darryl Smalley said the removal of this honorary title sent the right message that the city stood with victims of abuse.

“The next logical step is now for Prince Andrew to do the right thing and relinquish his Duke of York title

“If he fails to do so, the Government and Buckingham Palace must step in to remove his title to finally end Prince Andrew’s connection to York.”

Mr Smalley said the Honorary Freedom of York was the highest honour the city could bestow on those who represented the best of York.

“The honour is held by many notable and accomplished people who carry it with pride and responsibly.

“Having been stripped of his military roles and royal patronages by the Queen, we believe that it is right to remove all links that Prince Andrew still has with our great city.

“I was pleased to see councillors of all parties support this motion and make it clear that it is no longer appropriate for Prince Andrew to represent York and its residents.”

Prince Harry is “continuing his mother Diana’s campaign to disrupt” Prince Charles’ future reign, former New Yorker and Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown has claimed – as she accused him of becoming a “disruptive force”.

Brown, who wrote the 2007 bestseller, The Diana Chronicles, was promoting her new book The Palace Papers, when she claimed Prince Harry’s recent behaviour had continued on Prince Charles’ and Princess Diana’s infamous “War of the Wales”.

Brown also said that the royal family was “still reeling” from Megxit and “just baffled” at why the relationship with the Sussexes suddenly deteriorated.

“Meghan got angry so fast, and that’s what’s rocked the family. They’re still reeling and just baffled why it seemed to go wrong so quickly,” Brown said in an interview with Marie Claire.

“It’s still a source of great pain to them; they were also completely knocked for six when they decided to do the Oprah interview, and now Harry’s doing a book.

“Harry has become a disruptive force in the family. For them, it’s like Diana’s son is continuing the campaign to disrupt Charles’ future reign, and the ‘’War of the Wales’’ continues. It’s a very destabilising factor.”

Speaking to the Washington Post, Brown said Meghan had “no purpose” and wanted to “cash in” on the commercial arm of being a royal.

“It’s as though she couldn’t resist everything that was on offer on the celebrity buffet,” Brown said.

“A hunger to avail herself of the global leverage, to live in glorious houses without strings attached.”

Brown said she believed the couple had struggled since leaving the royal family.

“They both completely underestimated what it was going to be like to be without the palace platform,” Brown said.

“The Palace has amazing convening power, every major invitation in the world comes through that conduit. All of that is now gone.

“Meghan doesn’t really have a brand – you feel that she is grasping at the ‘Twitter caring’ of the moment. Vaccinations, Ukraine, Women’s rights, my 40th birthday, let’s have a mentoring scheme. Nothing is really going anywhere for Meghan.

Brown also said that Prince Harry wanted out of the royal family even without Meghan.

“A very close adviser told me ‘we always knew he would go at some point he was very unhappy’. Even the Queen knew.

“I really think Harry wanted out, himself. Meghan gave Harry the tools to leave. She understood the world of agents and deals. I mean this wasn’t Harry’s world, but suddenly he had in Meghan a very worldly strategist who he decided to trust above all the other advisers.”

Comparing Prince Harry to his brother, Brown said Prince William was “smart” for waiting 10 years before proposing to Kate Middleton.

“He was absolutely sure she could handle [royal life] before they married,” Brown said. “Nobody was deluded like Meghan was, it seems.”

It comes as Kate’s ascendancy to senior royal continued when she stepped out for the first time with Princess Anne at a public engagement.

The royals took part in their first-ever joint outing on Wednesday local time with a visit to the London headquarters of the Royal College of Midwives and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists — of which Anne and Kate are respective patrons.

The two princesses took part in a discussion with experts and new mums about the measures being taken to tackle inequalities in maternity care. And they were shown some of the pioneering work being done to improve essential gynaecological skills at a local level and worldwide.
