Britney Spears flips bird, eats cake from floor, in bizarre Instagram video

The embattled pop singer donned a red catsuit, ate cake from the floor, and smeared icing all over herself in a “birthday week” celebration.

Britney Spears has donned a red catsuit, plunged her face into a cake, and flipped off her 41 million followers in a bizarre new video posted to Instagram to celebrate her “birthday week”.

The 30-second clip, posted on Saturday afternoon, attracted more than 180,000 likes and almost 12,000 comments within the first four hours of posting, with many questioning the star’s bizarre behaviour and on-again/off-again relationship with the social media app.

Spears can be seen knocking back a bottle of what appears to be champagne, writhing on the floor, tousling her hair, and suggestively running icing-covered hands down her body.

“Is it a little awkward or weird to watch? DUH that’s the whole point,” she wrote.

It’s been a huge year for the pop singer, who turned 41 on December 2, as she enjoyed her first year of freedom after a 14-year conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.

She announced a pregnancy with her partner of five years, 28-year-old actor and fitness expert Sam Asghari, in April. However, Spears suffered a miscarriage just one month later.

In June, the couple married in an intimate at-home wedding.

Her estranged family and her two sons did not attend the ceremony.

“My goal this year is to learn to be as COMFORTABLE with people as they are with me,” she wrote in a long caption. “I want to go to a wedding this year, grab the mic, sing a song or two, and fall down eight times! It’s my first year in 15 years being treated as an equal and good God I didn’t know about this no rule thing! P.S. This video is a so blurry sorry.”

The Grammy-Award-winning singer can be seen wearing white cowboy boots as she bops along to Eartha Kitt’s famous Christmas song Santa Baby on her rose-covered living room floor. A large and perfectly decorated Christmas tree twinkles in the background.

It has prompted many fans to question her wellbeing and state of mind.

“What if she was just like this all along and this is her uncensored?” asked one.

“Could these all be old video from a previous year?” asked another. “And she’s not free... again? Didn’t she cut her hair? What’s recent and what’s not?”

Spears’ latest clip comes just one day after her husband took to Instagram stories to address the numerous breaks she has taken from social media in recent months.

“Social media can be traumatising,” Asghari wrote. “Sometimes it’s good to take a break... She has her voice and is a free woman. I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times. Thank you to all of her protective fans.”
