Gold Coast music producer DJ Paul Fisher and his wife and podcast host Chloe, have revealed they were about to enlist a surrogate when they conceived their ‘miracle baby’ naturally after a hellish fertility journey.

The couple, after enduring eight demanding rounds of IVF and the heartache of four miscarriages, are now expecting their first child naturally in 2024.

In a heartfelt revelation on Chloe’s podcast “Darling, Shine!”, which she co-hosts with friend Ellidy Pullin who is the widow of snowboarder Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, Chloe described the natural conception of their baby as “a deadset miracle” after “1000s of needles, eight rounds of IVF and multiple surgeries”.

“The baby was not IVF; it was a natural conception, believe it or not. I’m still actually shook,” she said.

The couple was in the final stages of planning for a surrogate, having already chosen one and prepared to sign the necessary legal documents when they discovered that Chloe was pregnant.

“I was actually meeting the surrogate with Ellidy that week – we had signed everything off,” Chloe said.

“This was in October and at the time and we were still deciding when we wanted to do the transfer, whether we wanted to do it before the end of the year.”

The expecting parents found out they had conceived naturally after their rainy honeymoon in the Maldives in early October.

With rain pouring down, leaving them with little to do, Fisher jokingly said “it was just raining every day, so Fish and Coco went to town.”

The couple’s path to conception has been a challenging one, marked by continuous heartache and disappointment.

“For the last three and a half years, we have pretty much continuously tried [to get pregnant]. Every month I kind of had hope, but then I was just like it’s never going to happen,” Chloe shared on the podcast.

“I had such a low egg count. It meant that I never really ovulated.”

Their journey and eventual success was announced to their followers on Instagram on Christmas Day, alongside a photo featuring a glowing Chloe showing off her baby bump alongside Paul’s beaming smile, as well as an ultrasound picture of the baby.

“The greatest gift of all! I’ve waited my whole life for you,” the caption read.

“The most wanted & loved baby Fisher will be joining the tour in 2024, we are still pinching ourselves that we’ve finally been chosen to become parents … WE DID IT @followthefishtv I love you so so much !!!”

Chloe, while sharing her joy, did not forget the struggles of those who are still on their fertility journey.

“Although this post is the single most happiest moment in my life, I know how incredibly hard announcements like these are for those struggling with infertility. After 4 years of trying to conceive, 1000s of needles, 8 rounds of IVF, multiple surgeries, I’ve lived this nightmare & I know this pain and suffering all too well,” the caption read.

“I feel you all, I see you all & completely understand the disappointment & sadness you are all feeling … I pray you hold your miracle in your arms soon. My heart is with you.”

In discussing their experience, the couple reflected on how their lifestyle changes, including giving up alcohol and reducing the stress associated with IVF, might have played a role in their unexpected natural conception.

“We didn’t talk about it, it didn’t stress us out … And I think stress is a key factor here,” Fisher said.

Chloe is now about 15 weeks pregnant.
