THE British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards is known as the night of nights for the stars of the British small screen.
But some of the showbiz elite attending the glamorous red carpet event missed the mark with their questionable fashion choices.
From extremely frilly dresses to prints that were so bold they caused a headache and just plain underwhelming outfits, some of the stars really missed the opportunity to shine.

Although she was nominated for best Leading Actress, Thandie Newton didn’t lead the way when it came to her outfit, an awkward shaped, multi-coloured strapless gown.
BAFTA red carpet presenter Clara Amfo was dubbed one of the worst dressed by British media thanks to her pale pink floral dress with cut-outs and black bows.

There were a few who stood out among the crowd, with The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby looking effortlessly glamorous in a silver floor-length gown.
British film star and model Amy Jackson also stunned in a mustard long-sleeved gown.
The star-studded night took place overnight at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank.
The roll call for the BAFTA TV Awards was quite impressive, with some of Britain’s best-loved TV personalities and shows up for gongs, including The Crown, Line Of Duty and Peaky Blinders — which took out best drama series.
Dark totalitarian series The Handmaid’s Tale was also a winner, as well as reality show Love Island, which is about to get its first Australian adaptation on Channel 9.
