A female comedian has lashed out at a heckler during her stand-up gig after he did not like being on the receiving end of one of her jokes.

Comedian Natalie Cuomo, 29, lost her cool in a now-viral video, screaming at a man in the front row at her Washington D.C. gig on February 3 after he decided to hit back at one of her jokes.

In the footage posted to various social media platforms, Cuomo could be seen joking with the crowd before zeroing in on the man and suggesting he was in a relationship with his male friend, who he was sitting next to in the audience.

“Why are you making it sound like we’re a couple?” the man asked her from his seat, to which Natalie responded: “Oh my God, don’t be scared.”

“It’s not my fault that you don’t have material,” he continued in front of the crowd. “I can roast you too, you can’t roast all of us and get nothing.”

Appearing genuinely shocked with the feedback, Cuomo was left lost for words before she came back with, “Hmm, I see. So you were afraid because you felt like I was saying you’re gay...”

The heckler did not relent and taunted the comedian by saying, “I can take the mic.”

This comment clearly did not sit well with Cuomo, who was closing out her successful weekend shows in Washington D.C, so she gave him a proper scolding.

“There’s so many people that came together to be supportive and f**king amazing, and you’re putting negative...” she said before kneeling down on the stage to met his gaze.

“No! Look me in the eyes!” she then shouted at him. ‘You’re putting negative f**king energy out here! This is the last show of my f**king... look me in the f**king eyes... look at me!”

She continued ranting: “This is the last show of my f**king weekend, it’s a sold-out show and you wanna say mean s**t to me? Don’t f**king do that!”

The audience erupted with applause and began chanting her name as she told the man: “You can leave.”

The man’s friend remained in the audience and Cuomo turned her attention to him as he appeared to received a text message from the man.

The comedian grabbed the phone and did not hesitate to read the message to the crowd.

‘‘‘Lol, what a f**king clown. I did warn you I would get kicked out. Man, she is sensitive, especially for a comedian,’” she read out loud.

Cuomo then used the phone’s camera to take a selfie of herself flipping the bird as the crowd cheered her on.

The incident has left the internet divided, with some critics saying she overreacted while others praised her for standing up to the heckler:

“Half of me loves this. The other half notices that other comedians use their quick wit and demolish hecklers with jokes. Not yelling at them,” tweeted one, with another commenting, “You’re supposed to respond to hecklers with comedy, not with cringe. This is extremely lame.”

“Feminine rage is my jam!! I’m obsessed,” read one tweet from a supporter, while another wrote, “U screaming at him to look u in the eyes just changed my brain chemistry.”

With the video currently racking up close to one million views on her personal TikTok alone, Cuomo spoke out about her encounter with the “little man”.

“Right after I said how grateful I was for everyone being there and selling out the show, this little man in the front row decided to let his true colours shine,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

“Always stand up for yourself!! And if you’re going to be rude, at least have the decency to LOOK ME IN THE EYES.”
