Royal twins leave King Frederik X in hysterics as they steal the limelight

Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent had their father laughing uncontrollably as their balcony antics almost overshadowed his kiss with Queen Mary.

Frederik X was left in hysterics by his two youngest children as the twins led 150,000 Danes in a chant hailing the new king.

Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent, both 13, had the monarch’s affection as the royal family greeted cheering crowds from the Balcony in Christian VIII’s Palace.

The royal kids had a laugh on the balcony.

King Frederik beamed alongside his twins.

Older siblings Crown Prince Christian, 18, and Princess Isabella, 16, also joined the family but it was Josephine who shared a sweet moment with their father, resting her head on his chest after the long day of official duties.

The less formal appearance at Amalienborg Palace came after the official proclamation at Christiansborg Palace, where Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen declared the new King to the three corners of the globe.

The family remained together throughout the historic occasion, with Princess Josephine delighting those who turned out to line the streets for the procession through Copenhagen.

By far the most animated of the royal family, Princess Josephine shivered in the cold and bopped her head along with the crowds as she embraced the limelight.

All four royal children were dressed smartly for the event, with Princess Isabella making a bold statement in bright red, like her mother Queen Mary did in white.

Princess Josephine joining the boys in navy blue suits to match the more muted tones of their father’s formal dress uniform.

A visibly moved Frederik, clad in his gala admiral’s uniform with gold epaulets and blue sash, blinked back tears and smiled as he waved to the crowd.
