The Royal Family could be facing another wave of controversy after it emerged that Meghan Markle is said to be writing a memoir.
Royal expert and author Angela Levin declared the book would be “more powerful” than Prince Harry’s bombshell Spare autobiography and would likely include many “moans and groans about how badly she was treated as a royal”.
“My view is that she is writing her memoir and it will be a huge money-spinner,” added author Tom Bower, who wrote Revenge: Meghan and Harry and the War between the Windsors.
According to The Sun, the news has reportedly left Prince William “frustrated” that he can’t reach out to his estranged brother – and that the ongoing bad blood between the two is causing him a “real headache”.
According to royal expert Duncan Larcombe Prince William’s concerns centre around the fact that he can’t contact his brother without fears their conversations will be made public.
Larcombe, a former royal editor, believes the rift between the pair is now so bad that “there is just nothing between them anymore”.
“William’s real headache is that he can’t get in touch with his brother without risking the contents of any conversation they have being made public,” he told The Sun.
“It is a real frustration for him and it totally ties him up.
“It isn’t just about Harry promoting his book, the podcasts or the Oprah chat, but he has revealed some very personal and private family matters, like when they all rallied around the Queen’s bedside (before she died).
“It’s so far over the mark of what the royals would consider acceptable and it just makes it impossible for William to trust his brother or make any move towards (a reconciliation).”
Larcombe said the trust between the pair has completely broken down.
“It’s one thing having an argument with your sibling; it’s not uncommon in any family, but in this particular context, it is a constant betrayal. William can’t make that first move without Harry betraying him and breaking his confidence,” he said.
“There is just nothing between them anymore. William didn’t wish his brother a happy birthday publicly, where in previous years he has.
“It’s certainly a signal that William doesn’t want to talk about his brother, let alone to him.”
Meanwhile, Jennie Bond, a former royal correspondent, previously told The Sun that there is “no way back for the brothers” after their nuclear fallout.
“William is hurt so deeply that I think he probably just blanks Harry out of his mind most of the time,” she said.
“He has moved on with his life, and I guess so has Harry.”
Mark Boardman, an entertainment expert told the Daily Express that Ms Markle needed to consider the “impact” her own career could suffer from writing another negative book about the Royal Family.
“Meghan’s memoirs could stir controversy and reignite debates surrounding her relationship with the Royal Family, especially if she chooses to reveal previously undisclosed details.
“Any further revelations or ‘bombshells’ about her time as a royal could impact her career and reputation in various ways with an almost impossible task to make a further comeback,” he said.
“The impact largely depends on the nature of the disclosures. Positive revelations about her experiences and her charity work could enhance her reputation and strengthen her brand as a humanitarian.
“On the other hand, if her memoirs contain highly critical or contentious content, it could strain her relationship with the Royal Family further and polarise public opinion.
“It’s a fine line to walk, and Meghan would need to carefully consider the potential consequences.”
