Prince Harry’s pal reveals how he really feels about new life in the US

A friend of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has revealed how the British-born prince is adjusting to post-royal life, nearly four years on.

Nearly four years after leaving Britain and royal duties, Prince Harry is reportedly “very content” with his new life in California.

In a new interview, royal correspondent Katie Nicholl shared details from a source who had recently spent time with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who they claimed were “tight as a family unit”.

Nicholl also spoke specifically of Harry, revealing she’d been told that he was “really happy”.

“Harry’s living a wonderful life and a life he’s always wanted to live. And I thought that’s really wonderful to hear – I’m really pleased to hear that,” she told the Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered podcast.

However, it follows a new claim by royal author Tom Quinn, who told The Mirorr that Harry was feeling nostalgic about “some aspects” of his British life.

“As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK,” he said.

“Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles.”

Quinn added that Harry is still keen to find a permanent UK home after he was evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year.

“He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan,” he said.

“Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security.”

During her podcast interview, Nicholl also pointed out that missing milestone occasions – like His close friend Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding in Chester, England, over the weekend – would still hurt Harry.

“I’m sure there must be moments like this when he would have just got on a plane, with or without Meghan, and come over for a big society wedding like this, if he and his brother were actually on talking terms.”

It’s understood Harry is still in contact with his father, King Charles, although their relationship has been rocky in the wake of his Netflix docu-series and tell-all memoir, Spare. He reportedly is completely estranged from Prince William and his sister-in-law, Kate.

William was an usher for the high-profile nuptials last Friday, dubbed the “society wedding of the year”, and it’s understood that Harry and the groom, a longtime friend of both princes, had come to a mutual agreement that it was best he not attend.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales was front and centre as an usher for the ceremony.

Grosvenor is godfather to William and Kate’s son, Prince George, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie.

“Harry was invited but then agreed to stay away,” a source told the UK’s Times last week.

“The Duke’s diplomacy then cleared the way for William to perform the role of usher during Friday’s ceremony — a job that would have been beyond awkward if he was obliged to show Harry to his pew, even though he might enjoy telling him where to go.”

When Harry’s looming lack of attendance was first reported last year, a friend of the warring brothers described the situation as “incredibly sad”.

“It’s incredibly sad it has come to this. Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both,” the source told the Times.

“He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”
